<section id="H3CC9941F62BD41EC832957EA0A68E9AE" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Homeland Heroes Pay Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section> <section id="HABF8E35C3DFF46DDACC57C2A301D5387"><enum>2.</enum><header>Continuing appropriations for certain employees of CBP and ICE</header> <subsection id="H9BE4F9EBD64143BEA0EA472F6A0249E7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There are appropriated for fiscal year 2024, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sums as are necessary to pay, during the period of any lapse in discretionary appropriations in such fiscal year beginning on October 1, 2023, the salaries and expenses of—</text> 
<paragraph id="H2ED230EF5C194AAE94A29728C515F294"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and officers who are performing mission critical functions at United States Southwest, Northern, and maritime border ports of entry, and between such ports of entry, including preventing terrorists, terrorists weapons, illegal aliens, illicit drugs, and other illegal contraband; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H33C25B7B81A4449BB51765805BCBF48E"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and agents who conduct—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H2DD0059AFD224AD39D446CDAE9BD071C"><enum>(A)</enum><text>immigration enforcement, including detaining and removing aliens (as defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act); and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H75418AA308D74EBBAF4D0F18CA90B878"><enum>(B)</enum><text>investigations of criminal operations and organizations, including—</text> 
<clause id="HF36750A8AA04451F8300CC2AE5447E15"><enum>(i)</enum><text>the illegal trade of contraband such as goods, weapons, and drugs; and</text></clause> <clause id="HBA131A55A93C413BA6AB32E3BBFB0276"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the smuggling and trafficking of people.</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H41286450D5E249DEB724690AD36C0C76"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Termination</header><text>Appropriations and funds made available and authority granted pursuant to this section shall be available until whichever of the following first occurs:</text> <paragraph id="H13FFC3E716F943FD8A2BDD2818525473"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The enactment into law of an appropriation (including a continuing appropriation) for any purpose for which amounts are made available in subsection (a).</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H1D40DCF1434D415392C56327CFC17236"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The enactment into law of the applicable regular or continuing appropriations resolution or other Act without any appropriation for such purpose.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H32FCDC73D91249D99FB9259C548252F8"><enum>(3)</enum><text>January 1, 2024.</text></paragraph> </subsection></section>
