Reg. 29184).</text></section><section id="H3A2387AC600A4025988D3E321C5F57CA"><enum>3.</enum><header>Ensuring tailpipe regulations do not limit the availability of new motor vehicles</header><subsection id="HD11643A3307B4C37B5004FF498AE3ABE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 202(a)(2) of the Clean Air Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/7521">42 U.S.C. 7521(a)(3)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H3AB215E3344341579237113A3F904EB2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>(2) Any regulation</quote> and inserting <quote>(2)(A) Any regulation</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H917A69184D6D4B339B63827C7DD136AC"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H92CCF9A5BBB343D894585FC292043D2C" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subparagraph id="HB309CC0506C94143A2908204D1C50E4A" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Effective beginning on the date of enactment of this subparagraph, any regulation prescribed under paragraph (1) (and any revision thereof), including any such regulation or revision prescribed before the date of enactment of this subparagraph, shall not—</text><clause id="HBFF843ECD2B343BDA2BAD77BAE7CE5E5"><enum>(i)</enum><text>mandate the use of any specific technology; or</text></clause><clause id="H3A2E3EB1CF134066B7EAB2066DECF5F0"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>result in limited availability of new motor vehicles based on the type of new motor vehicle engine in such new motor vehicles.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HAD863FB116BF45EE90FE8AEE27BB8788"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Necessary revisions to regulations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 24 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency shall promulgate such revisions to regulations as may be necessary to conform such regulations to section 202(a)(2)(B) of the Clean Air Act, as added by subsection (a).</text></subsection></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date date="20230901">September 1, 2023</action-date><action-desc>Committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the State of the Union and ordered to be printed</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
