and</text></clause><clause id="H5933675ECFFD4CDC865BFDCB3790B5A2"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>by striking <quote><header-in-text level="paragraph" style="OLC">through Common Fund</header-in-text></quote>; </text></clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HE782980D7ED04D8ABF1898288CB9989C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking <quote>to the Common Fund</quote> and inserting <quote>to the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives</quote>; </text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H8AE3277863CE46F5BB52B0CDDEC584FA"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by striking <quote>10-Year</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HB0242967D52A4D09BA2875332A014BC5"><enum>(D)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and reserved under subsection (c)(1)(B)(i) of this section</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD75E0CD8B76F4FA8BA5CE0A7235CA70F"><enum>(E)</enum><text>by striking <quote>2014 through 2023</quote> and inserting <quote>2024 through 2028</quote>;</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H41F559B5FBCB41F19A8CCED1FB606F06"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in each of paragraphs (1)(A) and (2)(C) of section 402A(c) (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/282a">42 U.S.C. 282a(c)</external-xref>), by striking <quote>section 402(b)(7)(B)</quote> and inserting <quote>section 402(b)(7)(B)(i)</quote>; and </text></paragraph><paragraph id="H4832EA062FE74272BE0283CB31258E86"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in section 402(b)(7)(B)(ii) (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/282">42 U.S.C. 282(b)(7)(B)(ii)</external-xref>), by striking <quote>the Common Fund</quote> and inserting <quote>the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives</quote>.</text></paragraph></section><section id="H356146BDC18B42EBAD1AB97E74EBC387"><enum>3.</enum><header>Coordination of NIH funding for pediatric research</header><subsection id="H195001A8A7174817B471378E2E3098C3"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Sense of Congress</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">It is the sense of the Congress that the Director of the National Institutes of Health should continue to oversee and coordinate research that is conducted or supported by the National Institutes of Health for research on pediatric cancer and other pediatric diseases and conditions, including through the Pediatric Research Initiative Fund.</text></subsection><subsection id="H1C924526DEF740DC9B144961F342FDAD"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Avoiding duplication</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 402(b)(7)(B)(ii) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/282">42 U.S.C. 282(b)(7)(B)(ii)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting <quote>and shall prioritize, as appropriate, such pediatric research that does not duplicate existing research activities of the National Institutes of Health</quote> before <quote>; and</quote>.</text></subsection></section><section id="HB02FE12345CE4DB8BDAC98BC2176C054"><enum>4.</enum><header>Report on progress and investments in pediatric research</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 5 years after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall submit to the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate a report that—</text><paragraph id="HFC4BC98959234019A7FBACDAD27F8810"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">details pediatric research projects and initiatives receiving funds allocated pursuant to section 402(b)(7)(B)(ii) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/282">42 U.S.C. 282(b)(7)(B)(ii)</external-xref>); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HDE230C249E88454AB96CC08AA64E0EE9"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">summarizes advancements made in pediatric research with funds allocated pursuant to such section.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body><endorsement display="yes"><action-date date="20230825">August 25, 2023</action-date><action-desc>Reported with an amendment, committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the State of the Union, and ordered to be printed</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
