Trump&#8217;s calls to terminate the Constitution on the basis of false allegations of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election.</official-title></form><preamble> 
<whereas><text>Whereas, on December 3, 2022, former President Donald J. Trump posted to the Truth Social media platform, <quote>So, with the revelation of MASSIVE &amp; WIDESPREAD FRAUD &amp; DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNS, &amp; the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great <quote>Founders</quote> did not want, and would not condone, False &amp; Fraudulent Elections!</quote>;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas former President Trump’s false allegations of massive and widespread voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election have not been substantiated;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas more than 60 lawsuits filed by former President Trump, the Trump campaign, or other entities on his behalf challenging the 2020 Presidential election or its outcome have been lost or dismissed in various Federal and State courts;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas former President Trump used these false allegations in a social media post as the basis to call for the termination of the <quote>rules, regulations, and articles</quote> in the Constitution; </text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas the Constitution is a sacrosanct document that guarantees the rule of law and free and equal elections in the United States; and</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas calls for the termination of the Constitution in response to losing a legitimately conducted Federal election are undemocratic: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="OLC" id="H978F0D81E311442080B353F437944843"> 
<section id="H0E02C60000134B5692E41C617E887C00" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the House of Representatives—</text> <paragraph id="H9C3719B92E5B436BB6D6C774A4333BC4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>condemns former President Donald J. Trump for calling for the termination of the rules, regulations, and articles found in the Constitution on the basis of false allegations of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H29EB80533B3C46A5B451C8B998E0766D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>finds that calls to terminate the Constitution are undemocratic, undermine United States institutions, and run contrary to our values as a Nation; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HB09401F2FF7C4918A04ACA01757D75FD"><enum>(3)</enum><text>reaffirms that the Constitution is a sacred document that cannot be overturned simply on the basis of a candidate disagreeing with the results of a legitimate election.</text></paragraph></section>
