RES. 1414</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220930">September 30, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="D000631">Ms. Dean</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">Committee on House Administration</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that firearms should not be present at any Federal election site.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, on most days in 2022, there has been a mass shooting in the United States;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas an average of more than 110 Americans are killed and more than 200 are wounded by guns every day, which is an average of more than 40,000 deaths per year;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, as of September 27 of this year, 33,183 people were killed by guns in the United States this year;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in May, a shooter killed 19 children and 2 teachers and wounded at least 17 others at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, carrying out one of the deadliest mass shootings in United States history;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in May, 10 people were targeted, shot, and killed and 3 others wounded in a predominantly-Black supermarket in Buffalo, New York;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, during a Fourth of July parade, a shooting in Chicago, Illinois, left 7 people dead and at least 46 others wounded;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, during Labor Day weekend, more than a dozen people were killed and 58 people were injured in 15 mass shootings across the country; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the threat of gun violence should not impede anyone’s ability to exercise their right to vote: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HB8FB1D2FCCAE4898B0F466B02DAA7D90"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H311D5D5190C54D56BD73FFFD8FC274D9"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that firearms should not be present at any Federal election site.</text></section></resolution-body></resolution>
