<whereas><text>Whereas, on September 8, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II was born February 6, 1926, in London, United Kingdom, as the eldest daughter of the then-Duke and Duchess of York;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas, during World War II, then-Princess Elizabeth played a vital role in public service by maintaining public morale for the war effort;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Princess Elizabeth served as a honorary junior commander in the Auxiliary Territorial Service where she trained as a driver and mechanic, directly contributing to the Allied war effort and becoming the first female member of the royal family to serve full time in the Armed Forces;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas, on November 20, 1945, Princess Elizabeth married Prince Philip to whom she would remain married until his death in 2021;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas upon the death of her father on February 6, 1952, Princess Elizabeth became Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II stood as a symbol of leadership, fortitude, and resilience during her 7 decades as Queen;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II invited 15 Prime Ministers to form a government during her 7 decades as Queen;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II met with 13 United States Presidents during her time as Queen, having close personal and professional relationships with many United States leaders;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II oversaw over 7 decades of the special relationship shared between the United States and the United Kingdom and served as a common thread from the period immediately following World War II to modern day;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas, on May 16, 1991, Queen Elizabeth II became the first British monarch to address a joint session of the United States Congress;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II generously supported and promoted charitable causes throughout her time on the throne;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II’s steady, measured leadership served as a stabilizing force during times of crisis and political change, and her 70-year, 7-decade reign is the longest of any British monarch in history; and</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas Queen Elizabeth II leaves behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, and national pride: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H8EE706A8AE12464586DF505775ED942F"> 
<section id="H65D53953E5204DEDB983D788087656F8" section-type="undesignated-section" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives—</text> <paragraph id="HD8692D04B16548B1A45BF5365AF76F51"><enum>(1)</enum><text>extends its deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Queen Elizabeth II and to all the people of the United Kingdom for their loss;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H036B9510B1FB4242AE7B5F9A9F78680D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>honors the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II for her commitment to—</text> <subparagraph id="H3A95E40CA96F4ED38DF60A451B7EFECD"><enum>(A)</enum><text>strengthening the United States-United Kingdom special relationship;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HCF91BEA84DBE494ABD4AF672D309CB87"><enum>(B)</enum><text>promoting global peace through diplomacy; and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HD1FED02192B64CBE931FF4EF9B32CD29"><enum>(C)</enum><text>leading with integrity, generosity, and grace; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HDA3036D2BCF448C3B432AA6DDE88A861"><enum>(3)</enum><text>proclaims that—</text> <subparagraph id="H7BCB6EA98ED743739701F2BD6C9C8D97"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Queen Elizabeth II served the people of the United Kingdom for over 70 years with an unwavering love for her country;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H190EDADAA82F4C2EBA011EB61F0BAE64"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Queen Elizabeth II was instrumental in strengthening an unbreakable bond between the United States and the United Kingdom and underscoring the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom; and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HF6F60F953A8E4C5F9AC021729C7D26A0"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the United States will honor the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II with renewed commitment to the United States-United Kingdom alliance and by working with His Majesty King Charles III to further strengthen our ties.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></section>
