RES. 1333</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220909">September 9, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001119">Ms. Craig</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">Committee on House Administration</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Requiring Members of the House of Representatives to serve one shift in a passenger seat of a law enforcement vehicle observing the work day of a local law enforcement officer once during the first term of a Member in the House, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><resolution-body style="OLC" id="HC76E0C0B6FCF457B9AFCFC098F113FD5"><section display-inline="no-display-inline" section-type="section-one" id="H82A83DFF19524F8FBE986D3B421C0838"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This resolution may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Ride-Along Resolution</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="HC9031D6142BC4EEDA4C492E78F501642"><enum>2.</enum><header>Requirement for Members of the House of Representatives to participate in one ride-along during first term in the House</header><subsection id="H8CA376E51AA948649C76F4566F011D29"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">With respect to any Member of the House of Representatives serving a first term as a Member of the House, each such Member shall participate in one ride-along in the respective congressional district of the Member not later than 1 year after the date such Member is sworn in as a Member of the House.</text></subsection><subsection id="HE935C95ADBF242F9B415E8E1CB9598A3"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Regulations</header><text>The Committee on House Administration shall promulgate regulations to carry out this resolution.</text></subsection><subsection id="HFACE320FD655401FA7B36A94B3B5B486"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Violation</header><text>If the Committee on Ethics determines that a Member has not satisfied the requirement under <internal-xref idref="H8CA376E51AA948649C76F4566F011D29" legis-path="2.(a)">subsection (a)</internal-xref> by the deadline described in such subsection, the Committee shall—</text><paragraph id="HFF70314A1B1C4087A82B8D7630AA878B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>publish the name of the Member on a readily available, public list on the website of the Committee that identifies Members who have not satisfied such requirement; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H29ED25E0B6F84CE49B40C1284133A76C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>cause to be published in the Congressional Record information with respect to the failure of the Member to satisfy such requirement.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HBEB1FC497D1D42E9B764D06B0B25EA01"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text><paragraph id="H047BDED3164349AEBBDC8CBFA6E4A98B"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Ride-Along</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>ride-along</term> means an arrangement for a Member of the House of Representatives to serve one shift in a passenger seat of a law enforcement vehicle observing the work day of a local law enforcement officer in the respective congressional district of such Member.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H4A82898B8575477D98B16731534DF7AB"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Member of the House of Representatives</header><text>The term <term>Member of the House of Representatives</term> includes a Delegate or Resident Commissioner to the Congress.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H454B5B8524C642BFA8A81D259045C06D"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>This section shall apply with respect to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress and each succeeding Congress. </text></subsection></section></resolution-body></resolution>
