RES. 1326</legis-num><associated-doc role="report" display="yes">[Report No. 117–535]</associated-doc><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220826">August 26, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000615">Mr. Pence</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220930">September 30, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported adversely from the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name>, referred to the House Calendar, and ordered to be printed</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Of inquiry requesting the President, and directing the Secretary of Energy, to transmit to the House of Representatives certain information relating to plans to protect baseload bulk power system generation and transmission to maintain bulk power system reliability.</official-title></form><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H34A4939B98774982B5E8DBF5F42B83DD"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H01823B541AD4494FB6F51C40C3130896"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the President is requested, and the Secretary of Energy is directed, to transmit to the House of Representatives, not later than 14 days after the date of adoption of this resolution, copies of all documents, memoranda, and advisory legal opinions, including notes from meetings, memos, and telephone and electronic mail records, to the extent that any such one or more items are within the possession of the President or the Secretary, respectively, and refer or relate to the following:</text><paragraph id="HFEC2DC5B2AC241D4AB757E6120908E6E"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">How the Secretary of Energy plans to respond to the insufficient baseload electricity generation and transmission described by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation in the document titled <quote>2022 Summer Reliability Assessment</quote> (May, 2022) to ensure the bulk power system is able to provide reliable, affordable, and dispatchable baseload electricity generation and transmission.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE0C2ACCAB6D24005A7E8298D6050D357"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Correspondence between the Secretary of Energy and bulk power system operators, the Chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency relating to how the generation and transmission of electricity in the bulk power system, and the reliability of the bulk power system, is expected to be affected by—</text><subparagraph id="HD33B79455F30400F97F3A9568273B3BC"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">premature retirements or temporary closures of baseload electric generating units as a result of enforcement actions with respect to the requirements of section 257.103(f) of title 40, Code of Federal Regulations;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H62650E05C7764BF8A831C6C9C0626992"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any approved demonstrations for extensions submitted under section 257.103(f) of title 40, Code of Federal Regulations (relating to alternative closure requirements for coal combustion residuals landfills and surface impoundments); and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H830994FEC8A24CEEBE03CD387AF9343C"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">finalization of the proposed rule published by the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency on April 6, 2022, titled <quote>Federal Implementation Plan Addressing Regional Ozone Transport for the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard</quote> (87 Fed. Reg. 20036).</text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></resolution-body><endorsement display="yes"><action-date date="20220930">September 30, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported adversely from the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name>, referred to the House Calendar, and ordered to be printed</action-desc></endorsement></resolution>
