RES. 1252</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220722">July 22, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001212">Mr. Stauber</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Of inquiry directing the Secretary of the Interior to transmit certain documents to the House of Representatives relating to the mineral withdrawal within the Superior National Forest.</official-title></form><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HACF2345A9A3C4CB5B049F825BF13CC9E"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="HF903B35DFD2343FC8E3FE4BFEF7A7159"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the Secretary of the Interior is directed to transmit to the House of Representatives, not later than 14 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, copies of any document, memorandum, correspondence, and other communication or any portion of any such communication, that refers or relates to the mineral withdrawal within the Superior National Forest and composition of the Duluth Complex, including the following:</text><paragraph id="H31FC92F580A2423EB4DA99CBB6545259"><enum>(1)</enum><text>All documents and communications relating to the minerals found within the Duluth complex, including but not limited to—</text><subparagraph id="HC7C23466AF1D4B159E27F443CEC60344"><enum>(A)</enum><text>any reference to the amount of copper or recognized critical minerals found; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDE6400C0619F4DE48CA6D8476C332CBF"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any reference to minerals needed for infrastructure, renewable energy, or electric vehicle production.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HBAE33D00B0DF4ADF9ED217DF743E43F2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>All documents and communications referring or relating to initiating the mineral withdrawal process within Superior National Forest.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA2E27EC44A63465A9FFF6E97B917EEBB"><enum>(3)</enum><text>All documents and communications relating to the impact of the mineral withdrawal on Twin Metals operation, including but not limited to—</text><subparagraph id="H56D8FB28593342F29C9E009CB7E2723A"><enum>(A)</enum><text>any reference to preventing production of minerals;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HABEB965B1E244CB2A64480A5AC0C360C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any reference to union project labor agreements; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC5C76D0ADCF74C5A8F24D2DBE001CD12"><enum>(C)</enum><text>any reference to the loss of economic benefits at the State and local level.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HFF30A961BAF84CC7B1F62930CFF2CD6D"><enum>(4)</enum><text>All documents and communications referring or relating to the analysis of Twin Metal’s mining operation plan.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H19D1A76DD55F4BE5A2A6B08DF7EF2ED1"><enum>(5)</enum><text>All documents and communications relating to the impact of the two-year pause on mineral activity in Superior National Forest while the mineral withdrawal application is considered, including but not limited to—</text><subparagraph id="H9833D479C8AE4B849E92A239E29280B3"><enum>(A)</enum><text>any reference to national security implications;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H5A19DDF88FA148E48C9BA89D41274BD3"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any reference to mineral supply chain stability implications;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3A2C94C92AB14609A245F7761EB63938"><enum>(C)</enum><text>any reference to increased dependence on foreign minerals; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H2328BD2CAB54482FB473E80E293FF64E"><enum>(D)</enum><text>any reference to the economic losses at the State and local level.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H404C5865612B4299B1C3B658E8C4C211"><enum>(6)</enum><text>Any meeting or communication that occurred between Secretary Debra Haaland, or her representative, and environmental advocacy groups referring or relating to the mineral withdrawal application in Superior National Forest.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
