<congress display="yes">117th CONGRESS</congress><session display="yes">1st Session</session><legis-num display="yes">S. 957</legis-num><current-chamber display="no">IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><legis-type display="yes">AN ACT</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to ensure that certain medical facilities of the Department of Veterans Affairs have physical locations for the disposal of controlled substances medications.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section id="idA238B7FC6D2047DDAE7A14C9D7FEC095" section-type="section-one" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Designation of periods during which any individual may dispose of controlled substances medications at facilities of the Department of Veterans Affairs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3009 of the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/315">Public Law 116–315</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/8110">38 U.S.C. 8110</external-xref> note) is amended—</text><paragraph id="idAE2C0013288543D59040C8A48CAC287B" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating subsection (b) and (c) as subsections (c) and (d), respectively; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7F281A852C004528AA58F61AAF7C4F86" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting after subsection (a) the following new subsection (b):</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7F9A4042D6B446EF8013514B8914E368"><subsection id="id1DBEFADA3FA940F8A9F97019C6F1F7B3" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Designation of periods for any individual to dispose of medication</header><paragraph id="id48b624f6bd0f4482977a77203cb32f0d" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall designate periods during which any individual may dispose of controlled substances medications at a covered Department medical facility.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idfedef04648a742439b41f905a7416da0" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Public information campaigns</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may carry out public information campaigns regarding the periods designated under paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block display="yes">.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body><attestation><attestation-group><attestation-date date="20210422" chamber="Senate">Passed the Senate April 22, 2021.</attestation-date><attestor display="no"></attestor><role>Secretary</role></attestation-group></attestation><endorsement display="yes"></endorsement></bill>
