Short title
This Act may be cited as the American Telecommunications Security Act.

Prohibition on use of funds to purchase communications equipment or services posing national security risk
(a)
In general
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Public Law 117–2; 135 Stat. 4) is amended by adding at the end the following:<enum>XII</enum><header>National security restrictions on use of funds</header><section id="id40A7F74554D14D998775E95430DE5038" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>12001.</enum><header>Prohibition on use of funds to purchase communications equipment or services posing national security risk</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">None of the funds made available under this Act or an amendment made by this Act may be used to purchase any covered communications equipment or service, as defined in section 9 of the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/47/1608">47 U.S.C. 1608</external-xref>).</text></section>.(b)
