Scott Franklin of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001212">Mr. Moore of Alabama</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C000059">Mr. Calvert</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000246">Mr. Fallon</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001054">Mr. Carl</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B000825">Mrs. Boebert</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="A000375">Mr. Arrington</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000595">Mr. Good of Virginia</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001215">Mrs. Miller-Meeks</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001091">Mrs. Hinson</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="W000795">Mr. Wilson of South Carolina</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001274">Mr. Brooks</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001211">Mrs. Miller of Illinois</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S000250">Mr. Sessions</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000552">Mr. Gohmert</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000565">Mr. Gosar</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000578">Mr. Gaetz</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001104">Mr. Cawthorn</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit the Secretary of Health and Human Services from lessening the stringency of, and to prohibit the Secretary of Homeland Security from ceasing or lessening implementation of, the COVID–19 border health provisions through the end of the COVID–19 pandemic, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HFDD7EF814ED344EBB63C1EA7C74BD538" style="OLC"><section id="H03CD7241887E4DA68397417EA93D2FDA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protecting Americans from Unnecessary Spread upon Entry from COVID–19 Act of 2021</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>PAUSE Act of 2021</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H4CCB07D5652248C386A066AD6E9FB6E0"><enum>2.</enum><header>Maintaining the stringency of COVID–19 border health provisions through the end of the pandemic</header><subsection id="H25577D56819C4639BA0515A43912BECD"><enum>(a)</enum><header>HHS</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall not remove, or lessen the stringency of, the COVID–19 border health provisions unless and until—</text><paragraph id="H640233C98BE9439A84D9E69B2FB769F4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the public health emergency declared for COVID–19 under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/247d">42 U.S.C. 247d</external-xref>), including renewals thereof, is no longer in effect;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H937E66447A604F208441CAE5E9180FE8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the public health emergencies declared for COVID–19 by all States, including renewals thereof, are no longer in effect; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H61767DBE02274A828EBF96620FD8FBC2"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reduces the travelers’ health risk level for introducing, transmitting, and spreading COVID–19 in or from Canada and Mexico to Level 1.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HF038FC51C5B741C29DBC9BEF5E7271AE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Homeland Security</header><text>The Secretary of Homeland Security shall not cease or lessen the implementation of the COVID–19 border health provisions unless and until each of the conditions listed in subsection (a) is met.</text></subsection><subsection id="H2E9EBDD1364148DFAEA039C2D9DF8F51"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section, the term <term>COVID–19 border health provisions</term> means the restrictions established under part G of title III of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/264">42 U.S.C. 264</external-xref> et seq.; relating to quarantine and inspection) to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of COVID–19 from one or more foreign countries into the United States, including the order titled <quote>Order under Section 362 &amp; 365 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 265, 268): Order Suspending the Right To Introduce Certain Persons from Countries Where a Quarantinable Communicable Disease Exists</quote> issued by the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on October 13, 2020.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
