<section id="HA77D10E6688A4EC681334927CCC53F21" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protect the Gig Economy Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text> </section> <section id="H3C8C0880A88644E5AA3D72E699FC3097"><enum>2.</enum><header>Protecting the gig economy from class actions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Rule 23(a) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H2D06A3BCE65445919AB351FE08CDD1CE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (3), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text> </paragraph> <paragraph id="H583D0E40412B4DF3999BF339B32B2D4E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (4), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text> </paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H53C61A107C444F49AF3E5DCB0003AEE7"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (4) the following:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H2227841DDD8A4935A2B471E49EB16245" style="OLC"> <paragraph id="H8D779089BF6845CE854C9B8EEE1E7A9F"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the claim does not allege the mis­clas­si­fi­ca­tion of employees as independent contractors.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph></section>
