R. 4195</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210628">June 28, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001084">Mr. Cicilline</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="M000317">Ms. Malliotakis</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAG00">Committee on Agriculture</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act to encourage the construction of senior centers and community centers.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H05AD0D15CB7440829C36F766D381B9C9" style="OLC"><section id="H1B8C45B50BCC40E6B66BDB63A5A80637" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Community and Senior Center Support Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H7025D2C6ECC84DE4BDA72A445FE9C6FA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Waiver of rural area requirement for provision of assistance for multipurpose senior centers and for community centers providing health, community, social, recreation, or cultural services, under essential community facilities programs</header><subsection id="HBBBB68E01737405B832F8570C851AD9F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 306(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/1926">7 U.S.C. 1926(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HF1C8B339E1CE470EBD3F22A96FE95610" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H34312362F7764C299B6740421CAA651B"><enum>(27)</enum><header>Waiver of rural area requirement for provision of assistance for multipurpose senior centers and for community centers providing health, community, social, recreation, or cultural services, under essential community facilities programs</header><subparagraph id="H7EB5574EBB514A60867192F50EE1B99B" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may provide assistance under the essential community facilities programs authorized under this subsection, for a multipurpose senior center (as defined in section 102(36) of the Older Americans Act of 1965) or for an essential community facility providing health, community, social, recreation, or cultural services, without regard to whether the center or facility is in a rural area, and shall consult with the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in providing any such assistance for a center or facility that is not so located.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H932CFEDD6A6F423E8DC29EC82069D409"><enum>(B)</enum><header>No effect on other assistance</header><text>The provision of assistance under subparagraph (A) shall not affect eligibility for, or the amount or type of, assistance to be provided under any other Federal program.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H1D0F462D66B24E7DA72E8DFC4A73CF4A"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on October 1, 2021.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
