R. 3930</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210616">June 16, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="D000617">Ms. DelBene</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S001159">Ms. Strickland</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000472">Mr. Takano</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="P000613">Mr. Panetta</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001160">Ms. Moore of Wisconsin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="K000381">Mr. Kilmer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001216">Ms. Schrier</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001193">Mr. Swalwell</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000562">Mr. Lynch</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001084">Mr. Cicilline</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001185">Ms. Sewell</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000147">Ms. Norton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000560">Mr. Larsen of Washington</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000577">Mr. Ryan</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001156">Ms. Sánchez</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000602">Miss Rice of New York</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000468">Ms. Titus</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="P000096">Mr. Pascrell</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001072">Mr. Carson</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S000510">Mr. Smith of Washington</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001081">Mrs. Hayes</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001097">Mr. Cárdenas</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001137">Mr. Meeks</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C000754">Mr. Cooper</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 38, United States Code, to expand the membership of the Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans to include veterans who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, gender non-conforming, intersex, or queer.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HE78DE01EEF2D4C519571250FFA2CDE50" style="OLC"><section id="H22099C079F374BF7A0371DCDF26D6FCB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Voices for Veterans Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HE214306EA10A4A0AA8D9555A3DE01EB7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Expansion of membership of the Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans to include veterans who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, gender non-conforming, intersex, or queer</header><subsection id="H229F72A4DD3F40C6A2BB4E0606FB85E4"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Expansion of membership</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (a)(2)(A) of section 544 of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="H2B76A4B67D9A4C5E9E8919DB5BC84D5B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in clause (iv), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H91BA993057304618B724A7B1883B8DD9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in clause (v), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HCFC472F202AC4D709B64ECB69E0548EC"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after clause (v) the following new clause:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF0B7C0FEE283449CADFB69A071131CD2" style="USC"><clause id="HF08F1219180444C98FE22A0A3F92D1F6" indent="up2"><enum>(vi)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">veterans who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, gender non-conforming, intersex, or queer.</text></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HBE0309B3C13140D79842325E000086D9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Clause (vi) of section 544(a)(2)(A) of title 38, United States Code, shall apply to appointments made on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
