R. 3793</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210608">June 8, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="R000614">Mr. Roy</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="M001215">Mrs. Miller-Meeks</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000593">Mr. Levin of California</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S001208">Ms. Slotkin</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to increase the maximum amount of a policy under the Veterans' Group Life Insurance and Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HA6BE9C2F33A34ABE99BC40E6E0D967EF" style="OLC"><section id="H213AFB83B4BD4781ADF3F4A4159034D0" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Supporting Families of the Fallen Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H117040E86BA34A56AB292055E6A49FFD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Veterans Group Life Insurance, Servicemember Group Life Insurance</header><subsection id="H47F5C66834D94745BEAA5C2AD5116103"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1967(a)(3)(A)(i) of title 38, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>$400,000</quote> and inserting <quote>$500,000</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HF3FB1F4F4ABE4256B71FEC6D899549CE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date and determination of the Secretary</header><text>This Act shall take effect on the later of—</text><paragraph id="H4504C60BFE814BD8A1034C87E8913CF4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>60 days after the date of enactment of this Act; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HEF9337D673C8477C80FC7A7AFDBF7435"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the 1st date on which the Secretary of Veterans Affairs determines that— </text><subparagraph id="H8F2CF5B3A1224088BFFB7BB9B40BF072"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the new maximum amount and the premiums for such amount are administratively and actuarially sound for the insurance program; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H03D73EB4991247B7AEA1C52ECD51B709"><enum>(B)</enum><text>this change will not result in such program operating at a loss.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
