<section id="H34DB03EFBC8946F68DC63D89899F0B5D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Gold Star Children Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HD81792DE973D4813A6A4CB35D19A323B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Preference eligible status for children of certain permanently disabled or deceased veterans</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2108(3) of title 5, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H8A651E42E50E475B960A688F25C6E022"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (G), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HDEC5E6670CFE4F7FAB1DB47FBD53ECE3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (H), by inserting <quote>and</quote> after the semicolon; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H5415B8680C8040418BC4482981CEEACE"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting before the matter following subparagraph (H) the following new subparagraph:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAFA3CF22161A4B8193AE6A897CAABBC6" style="USC"> <subparagraph id="HC7A6697A83734F5F9B64F0FBDFF3C83B"><enum>(I)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the child (including an adopted child, recognized natural child, stepchild, or foster child) of—</text> 
<clause id="H07296059531B4DFD8F439C0D0A920E8C"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an individual who lost his or her life under honorable conditions while serving in the armed forces during a period named by paragraph (1)(A); or</text></clause> <clause id="H38075767347141128373519D90C76212"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a service-connected permanently and totally disabled veteran;</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
