R. 332</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210115">January 15, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="K000378">Mr. Kinzinger</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="K000385">Ms. Kelly of Illinois</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 to encourage a victim-centered approach to combating human trafficking, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H5103DBDF740F4D87A5A5C4DF94FD99AD" style="OLC"><section id="HAEC03BD1A98247DE86E559249855622C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Reducing the Demand for Human Trafficking Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H404CF4A864C045DEB90696277B0DF593"><enum>2.</enum><header>Implementing a victim-centered approach to combating human trafficking</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 107(b)(2) of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/7105">22 U.S.C. 7105(b)(2)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H9B06F43545A745C1A14384F16E40A729" style="OLC"><subparagraph id="H6A0904BA8CDD40A1B04A1A575E3125C8"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Preferences</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Attorney General shall provide affirmative preferences to applicants for grant funding under this paragraph whose grant application includes an attestation that grant funds awarded to a State or local law enforcement agency will be used in part to assist in strengthening efforts to reduce demand for human trafficking through the investigation and prosecution of persons who solicit or purchase commercial sex.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
