R. 3154</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210512">May 12, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="L000585">Mr. LaHood</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="W000813">Mrs. Walorski</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To extend reemployment services and eligibility assessments to all claimants for unemployment benefits, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HDEDB63520BB946D6B79D38E486A8879B" style="OLC"><section id="HA3DE01309A694CFFBA232BD070DEE59A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Building on Reemployment Improvements to Deliver Good Employment (BRIDGE) for Workers Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HBADE4E178F184A589F655F61ED4A5AC7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Eligibility for reemployment services</header><subsection id="H81E51F6574E94D8FA87A06AC120DCCFF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>CARES Act</header><paragraph id="HE8140E6121C84488899EF8EF46F931FA"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Pandemic Unemployment Assistance</header><text>Section 2102 of the Cares Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/136">Public Law 116–136</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H67EA36F0C0D04C2EA4B849F2F2BBEE4C" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="H325C5A01BAF848D893733E0FCBB20F9B"><enum>(i)</enum><header>Eligibility for reemployment services</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Pandemic unemployment assistance under this section shall be treated as unemployment compensation for the purposes of section 306 of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/506">42 U.S.C. 506</external-xref>).</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph><paragraph id="H81C38AAAA925498287BBD21CCD105BD3"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation</header><text>Section 2107 of the Cares Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/136">Public Law 116–136</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0D1BB82DC73940A7BA7C874AD5AFB7D2"><subsection id="HAB7D6691C2104F5EA219C9B7EE522F81"><enum>(h)</enum><header>Eligibility for reemployment services</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Pandemic emergency unemployment compensation under this section shall be treated as unemployment compensation for the purposes of section 306 of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/506">42 U.S.C. 506</external-xref>).</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H6480CBC068244954B4F134760055B86D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Social Security Act</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 306(a) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/506">42 U.S.C. 506(a)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H413C792DC2FD4952BC9AFD20FAE01AD3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>individuals referred to reemployment services as described in section 303(j)</quote> and inserting <quote>claimants for unemployment compensation, including claimants referred to reemployment services as described in section 303(j),</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H268DA16B61904FF193EB4E8D0EFD57FC"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>such individuals</quote> and inserting <quote>such claimants</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
