Scott Franklin of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001085">Ms. Houlahan</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="M001196">Mr. Moulton</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Oversight and Reform</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Public Health Service Act to entitle Members of the Ready Reserve Corps of the Public Health Service to certain rights and benefits that are provided for members of the Army Reserve.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H840DCC8063714BA7A008CA6CD790678B" style="OLC"><section id="HE30FB9DD1E56434C8CF59105125D9D3C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Public Health Service Ready Reserve Improvement Act of 2021</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="HC23A3EBEFDD54842B77786056D52102C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Allowing members of the Ready Reserve Corps of the Public Health Service to hold civil service positions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 203 of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/204">42 U.S.C. 204</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H10F1F7A504CD4761AEA598AB93B58BEA"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating subsection (d) as subsection (e); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HCE36AF797D404A658EEE13E66BF7DD59"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after subsection (c) the following subsection:</text><quoted-block id="H0BE2DE597D334644B1F7EA6CBB725327" style="OLC"><subsection id="H7941A931C45B41CC95D716A97F70E3D8"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Permitting dual employment; leave for reserve service</header><text>Members of the Ready Reserve Corps are entitled to the same rights and benefits provided for members of the Army Reserve under the following provisions of title 5, United States Code:</text><paragraph id="H416627093B0A4E5FB44D6C47B86A15CA"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Section 5534 (relating to dual employment and pay of Reserves and National Guardsmen).</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H6500959180374F66847E3999D6363D6A"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Section 6323 (relating to military leave; Reserves and National Guardsmen).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
