R. 2389</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210408">April 8, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001104">Mr. Cawthorn</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">Committee on House Administration</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit the Chief of the United States Capitol Police from retaliating or otherwise imposing disciplinary action against officers of the Capitol Police who seek or receive wellness services, including trauma counseling, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H94DDB4991BB0495BB8BF0DF5191EECE5" style="OLC"><section id="H2B41F581DECE44C184C0D7D03F8AE571" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>United States Capitol Police Wellness Promotion Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H347DE8B54A694164A357A33AC8C168B9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Wellness services for United States Capitol Police officers</header><subsection id="HB4960DB3E4C64A4E93E4C7C4A91E241F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Prohibiting retaliation against officers who seek or receive wellness services</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Chief of the United States Capitol Police may not retaliate or impose any disciplinary action against an officer of the Capitol Police on the grounds that the officer sought or received trauma counseling or other wellness services.</text></subsection><subsection id="HA6A071DFAAC14B5089D5706EE719A2FE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Use of vendors To provide services</header><text>The Chief of the United States Capitol Police shall investigate the feasibility and desirability of using vendors to provide trauma counseling and other mental health counseling and evaluation services to officers of the Capitol Police.</text></subsection><subsection id="H97A8933C08D84F198C67994A8E4264EE"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There are authorized to be appropriated to the United States Capitol Police such sums as may be necessary for the provision of trauma counseling and other mental health counseling and evaluation services to officers of the Capitol Police.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
