which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To relocate fencing around the Capitol Buildings and the United States Capitol Grounds, and to direct the Secretary of Defense to reassign members of the National Guard deployed to the National Capital Region to the southern land border of the United States.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H30EB09FAA2924936B3636E0F31791689" style="OLC"><section id="idD05C39A48FA44668B5D89CB48731FB49" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Redirecting Resources to the Border Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HAD30006AC66E4684B8395632D5EBDAD1" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Relocation of fencing around the Capitol Buildings and the United States Capitol Grounds; reassignment of members of the National Guard deployed to the National Capital Region</header><subsection id="HD255167ECC934EECBB9451AB29D057FA" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Fencing</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, all covered fencing shall be relocated to the southern land border of the United States.</text></subsection><subsection id="H8D505183A64F4390842072A7DE34C08E"><enum>(b)</enum><header>National Guard</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall reassign covered members to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection in securing the southern land border of the United States.</text></subsection><subsection id="HA1B1A56506F740BCABAD3387E530AB64" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text><paragraph id="H504FA1B648104C56834503EF423FEC56"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>covered duty</quote> means duty performed—</text><subparagraph id="H25D8E660CDAE4A928F18D96AC25F9E4E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the National Capital Region; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3014546359394B908DFBCDED388A72D4"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in support of the mission in response to the attacks on January 6, 2021, on the Capitol Buildings and the United States Capitol Grounds (described in sections 5101 and 5102 of title 40, United States Code).</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H76A819ADABF7453AA43DC4E62B8B2597"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The term <quote>covered fencing</quote> means fencing installed on or after January 6, 2021, around—</text><subparagraph id="H8939AE8E625D47D8AE4A2DCB94521831" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the perimeter of any of the Capitol Buildings described in section 5101 of title 40, United States Code; or</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HF50A598B6BF546179BF45F2CE790B7BB"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the perimeter of the United States Capitol Grounds, or any portion thereof, described in section 5102 of such title.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H30E0D95DF1CD4F57869319961CEC78A6"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The term <quote>covered member</quote> means a member of the National Guard deployed to the National Capital Region—</text><subparagraph id="HEA98CDE6DB554FE4A6FEF17D76553489"><enum>(A)</enum><text>on or after January 6, 2021; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3B36B3C06CD94C0CB2CA2F70337E62B6"><enum>(B)</enum><text>to perform covered duty.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H474D0324135746E1A8F73A3B399E5AC9"><enum>(4)</enum><text>The term <quote>National Capital Region</quote> has the meaning given that term in section 2674 of title 10, United States Code.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
