Davis of Illinois</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="M000312">Mr. McGovern</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act to provide for immediate eligibility for former foster youth under Medicaid.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H922CDFE847E949D7BECDFC0AD1A0EB7F" style="OLC"><section section-type="section-one" id="H9A5042DF80274EBF912EA8E14FE76F6C"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Immediate Coverage for Former Foster Youth Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H5DC016F45E994622B688FF724D5A74B1"><enum>2.</enum><header>Providing for immediate Medicaid eligibility for former foster youth</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1002(a)(2) of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/115/271">Public Law 115–271</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>January 1, 2023</quote> and inserting <quote>the date of enactment of the <short-title>Immediate Coverage for Former Foster Youth Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA418DF2E5C0C4B7F9C2F003F8B0E9E4D"><enum>3.</enum><header>Outreach efforts for enrollment of former foster children</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1902(a) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1396a">42 U.S.C. 1396a(a)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H70652FE6A87741179029217553672A55"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (85), by striking <quote>; and</quote> and inserting a semicolon;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA79001E31F914B57BA314F728D0D79C2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (86), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFD975C0B93F846E7A7E2BD11F1501AEF"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (86) the following new paragraph:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" act-name="" id="HF6EEEA1132B6438D9AD2C12289687CB4"><paragraph commented="no" id="HAB6B73565CEB407BB3E9F0467CB8722D"><enum>(87)</enum><text>not later than January 1, 2022, establish an outreach and enrollment program, in coordination with the State agency responsible for administering the State plan under part E of title IV and any other appropriate or interested agencies, designed to increase the enrollment of individuals who are eligible for medical assistance under the State plan under paragraph (10)(A)(i)(IX) in accordance with best practices established by the Secretary.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
