R. 1751</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210310">March 10, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="K000380">Mr. Kildee</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide for technical assistance under the health profession opportunity grant program under section 2008 of the Social Security Act.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H1E6D3353B5C94B4C9A5982D7D8E0E43B" style="OLC"><section id="HA4A09193F257499F997ECCAF94193563" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Technical Assistance for Health Grants Act</short-title></quote> .</text></section><section id="H1EF5CA2943014DBE89568B146EFDADF1"><enum>2.</enum><header>Technical assistance</header><subsection id="HB94B56069941475384C05A3E9B22D776"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2008 of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1397">42 U.S.C. 1397</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HF6E01ED3AA2E4AC3B023286C8FE32921"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (b)(4), by striking subparagraph (D); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HB90DD68E0F5D4A1FAAB2C0F27365F3D7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating subsections (c) and (d) as subsections (d) and (e) and inserting after subsection (b) the following:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HCD0261F1E7F54DE28E2DC06F0A1C4A5A" style="OLC"><subsection id="H6F30376B689647A49F1A03B697B1E6D2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Technical assistance</header><paragraph id="HDF68BDB2110C45A4B92313F362683257"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The Secretary shall provide technical assistance—</text><subparagraph id="H48DC5314BB4D4BD9B0F60F01D2D4FB73"><enum>(A)</enum><text>to assist eligible entities in applying for grants under this section;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H9F2F310BBB8742A9AECB7A2F7DAC306B"><enum>(B)</enum><text>that is tailored to meet the needs of grantees at each stage of the administration of projects for which grants are made under this section;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H06FC3E011F7240ECAAA0F323C81DA960"><enum>(C)</enum><text>that is tailored to meet the specific needs of Indian tribes tribal organizations, and tribal colleges and universities;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HCFEBFF07668D43D28059DA6B29BDA1A9"><enum>(D)</enum><text>that is tailored to meet the specific needs of the territories;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HCB70DB5A33724E9BBCB930AFE7A7A659"><enum>(E)</enum><text>that is tailored to meet the specific needs of eligible entities in carrying out demonstration projects for which a grant is made under this section; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6B8BBEB8ED5941BE82306A5BA97DB975"><enum>(F)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to facilitate the exchange of information among eligible entities regarding best practices and promising practices used in the projects.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H0914C1AE18BF4318B46DE2542382E4E0"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Continuation of peer technical assistance conferences</header><text>The Secretary shall hold peer technical assistance conferences for entities to which a grant is made under this section. The preceding sentence shall not be interpreted to require any such conference to be held in person.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H2056412DC22B46658B311A4A70105734"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Report to the congress</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">During each Congress, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Finance of the Senate a report on the nature of any technical assistance provided to grantees under this section.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H69E2D1D23F0B41AB983E1370375D8435"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Funding</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2008(c)(1) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1397">42 U.S.C. 1397(c)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting <quote>, and to carry out subsection (c) $15,000,000 for fiscal year 2022</quote> before the period.</text></subsection></section><section id="H4059DBCF2EED4E2CB68A1DCA2A097CAB"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by this Act shall take effect on October 1, 2021.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
