R. 147</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210104">January 4, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="N000188">Mr. Norcross</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="F000466">Mr. Fitzpatrick</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000588">Mr. Lamb</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S001208">Ms. Slotkin</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Armed Services</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend titles 10 and 38, United States Code, to make certain improvements to transitional services for separating members of the Armed Forces and educational assistance under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H6DC79FBB21064E1DAE74CBD18577F016" style="OLC"><section id="H458CD6518A2C48A39D27A0CE00091F0B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Bringing Registered Apprenticeships to Veterans Education Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>BRAVE Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H26E1FDBBDB4640E19D44D3CE710781BD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Education for separating members of the Armed Forces regarding registered apprenticeships</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1144(b)(1) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting <quote>(including apprenticeship programs registered under the Act of August 16, 1937 (50 Stat. 664; commonly referred to as the <quote>National Apprenticeship Act</quote>) and approved under chapters 30 through 36 of title 38)</quote> after <quote>employment opportunities</quote>.</text></section><section id="H7C78A931D25B408487D1449904367B59"><enum>3.</enum><header>Expansion of certain educational stipend administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3313(c)(1)(B)(i) of title 38, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>housing stipend</quote> and inserting <quote>stipend</quote> each place it appears.</text></section><section id="H1AD3F6CDBF49489AA5B141B9CB32774F"><enum>4.</enum><header>VA website regarding apprenticeship programs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Veterans Affairs, in coordination with the Secretary of Labor, shall establish a user-friendly website that is available to the public on which veterans can find information about apprenticeship programs registered under the Act of August 16, 1937 (50 Stat. 664; commonly referred to as the <quote>National Apprenticeship Act</quote>) and approved under chapters 30 through 36 of title 38, United States Code. Such information shall be searchable and sortable by craft and location, and include, with regard to each such program, the following:</text><paragraph id="H6552E21B92DC43ADB7C684E11E40FADA"><enum>(1)</enum><text>A description, including any cost to a veteran.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HCEB8462B719C44D38068844CC5FFCD15"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Contact information.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HAA9EACDA5A17473B8BAFBADC4F949DBF"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whether the program has been endorsed by a veterans service organization or nonprofit organization that caters to veterans.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H108B576A32664CCE96BE29B3194E0E0B"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whether the program prefers to hire veterans.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HC183B681A2EF404C8EF460C4AE13F35F"><enum>(5)</enum><text>Whether the program grants a certification or degree on completion.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
