	<preamble>
 <whereas><text>Whereas women constitute 50.8 percent of Americans;</text> </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women across races, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, and age groups experience many diseases and disorders differently than men;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the incidence, prevalence, symptomology, and severity of disease may differ between men and women across races, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, and age groups;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women and men have fundamental biological differences;</text> </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women across races, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, and age groups vary in the risks and benefits of medical therapies;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas for many years, women across races, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, and age groups were underrepresented in biomedical and clinical research;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the improvement of women’s health relies on sex- and gender-based biomedical and clinical research;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the promise of individualized medicine cannot be realized without sex- and gender-based parity in research;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, on January 25, 2016, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) implemented a policy requiring federally funded investigators to consider sex as a biological variable in preclinical research; and</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas this policy ushered in a new era of inclusivity and parity in women’s health research: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble>
	<resolution-body id="H87CC02B68D634CCA8EB93EBBA268DDAD" style="traditional">
 <section display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HED1964A515214CC1861D4BFFF8F39ED4" section-type="undesignated-section"><enum></enum><text>That the House of Representatives—</text> <paragraph id="H28563B1537164E4B99479292BA1962C4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>expresses support for the designation of a <quote>Women’s Health Research Day</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HE4255088CEE344178680417980176BF3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>supports efforts to—</text> <subparagraph id="HFACD123FED1D4A9E994282A1D6C2B191"><enum>(A)</enum><text>recognize the importance of biomedical and clinical research to women’s health and well-being to advancing human health;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H59B7D7BA8FE54C01B218C8FAEF45C63D"><enum>(B)</enum><text>increase awareness of the value of sex- and gender-based biomedical research; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H55BED69569224C9790563033E11A8CF7"><enum>(C)</enum><text>encourage individuals, including researchers and patients, to advocate on behalf of sex- and gender-inclusive research across races, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, and age groups.</text>
