	<preamble>
 <whereas><text>Whereas, on January 10, 2019, in an interview published by the New York Times, Representative Steve King asked, <quote>White nationalist, White supremacist, Western civilization—how did that language become offensive? Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?</quote>;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Representative King’s comments legitimize White supremacy and White nationalism as acceptable in today’s society;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Representative King’s comments are abhorrent to the founding principles of our Nation and our rich history of diversity and tolerance of those whose backgrounds and beliefs have made America the envy of the world; and</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Representative King’s comments reflect negatively on the House of Representatives: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble>

 <section display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H41D6C1E8FA73460CB1AB2473053DCF46" section-type="undesignated-section"><enum></enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That—</text> <paragraph id="H7B47D60B7782402885E588CE5DCFF3F1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Representative Steve King of Iowa be censured;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H99522CB75C544546BF19C0DA24721A09"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Representative Steve King forthwith present himself in the well of the House of Representatives for the pronouncement of censure; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H36B3B3A429894F3FB11D888050D926EF"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Representative Steve King be censured with the public reading of this resolution by the Speaker.</text> </paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
