			 California, on April 27, 2019.</official-title></form>
	<preamble>
 <whereas><text>Whereas on April 27, 2019, a 19-year-old armed with an assault rifle attacked the Chabad of Poway Synagogue near San Diego, California, while congregants were celebrating the last day of the Passover holiday;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the gunman wounded Almog Peretz, Noya Dahan, and Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein;</text> </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Lori Gilbert Kaye, a founding member of the congregation, was killed while bravely saving the life of Rabbi Goldstein;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in describing the attack, Rabbi Goldstein said—</text> <paragraph id="id45C78A5213AC4CE5B36086553BE89F29"><enum>(1)</enum><text><quote>Lori took the bullet for all of us. She died to protect all of us</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="id67DC920CC4F44BC78C4DD4E876C8B311"><enum>(2)</enum><text><quote>This is Lori. This is her legacy, and her legacy will continue. It could have been so much worse.</quote>;</text> </paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Oscar Stewart, a veteran of the Army, and Jonathan Morales, a border patrol agent, bravely fought back, running toward the perpetrator of the attack;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas law enforcement and first responders, including the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, acted quickly and professionally to respond to the attack and care for the victims;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the perpetrator of the attack, who expressed White supremacist and White nationalist sentiments, entered the synagogue shouting anti-Semitic slurs;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the attack occurred 6 months to the day after the attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which killed 11 innocent people and injured 6 others, including 4 law enforcement officers;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas anti-Semitism is an age-old form of prejudice, discrimination, persecution, and marginalization of Jewish people that runs counter to the values of the United States;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, according to an annual audit conducted by the Anti-Defamation League, in 2018—</text> <paragraph id="idD1EEFC0F56D24CDF956CAED6979975C6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>anti-Semitic incidents remained at near-historic levels in the United States; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="id82B2BD55D06740FBBF1CCE7D25D4D0E6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the number of anti-Semitic incidents with known connections to extremists or inspired by extremist ideology reached the highest levels since 2004;</text>
 </paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in a manifesto attributed to the perpetrator of the attack, the perpetrator of the attack claimed responsibility for the burning of a mosque in Escondido, California, and demonstrated anti-Muslim bias;</text>
 </whereas><whereas><text>Whereas growing White supremacy and White nationalism is—</text> <paragraph id="id9383B98AD94943F8933440F702EF5850"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a threat to the security of the United States; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="idBB633ACE6484455DB6A469ECF4F44CF3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>antithetical to the American values of dignity and respect of all people, including Jewish, Muslim, Black, Latino, Asian American, immigrant, and LGBTQ peoples; and</text>
 </paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas hate has no place in the United States and there is a duty to condemn all forms of hatred: Now, therefore, be it</text>
		</whereas></preamble>
	<resolution-body id="HEF3F3DF5D64F45B8B3D61F5F60EA8DBF" style="OLC">
 <section display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H9C4D7077166A48D5BED55DD685077C7F" section-type="undesignated-section"><enum></enum><text>That the House of Representatives—</text> <paragraph id="H4EFD1F2E728D464EA4F765E70EC18F55"><enum>(1)</enum><text>condemns the horrific anti-Semitic attack on the Chabad of Poway Synagogue near San Diego, California, on April 27, 2019, which killed 1 individual and injured 3 others;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H2BE3CB9E898642CA86870B7DFA1EAFAD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>honors the memory of Lori Gilbert Kaye, who was killed in the attack;</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H32A43FA0CF6844FAAEC38DEE57CA766C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>expresses hope for a full and speedy recovery for the individuals injured in the attack;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H05A346B4B7FF4636A404A5CC22F47F0C"><enum>(4)</enum><text>offers heartfelt condolences to—</text> <subparagraph id="H770F98FF80C943C197E88B5E29069CAD"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Chabad of Poway congregation;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H2045D44999934905BDF1A299C5792842"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the San Diego area Jewish community; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H75A6B8FE1E594C7DB6A32DBDE2A76A08"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the friends and family of those individuals affected by the tragedy;</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H09530FC6AB174B9C88E71FFF984CF6F4"><enum>(5)</enum><text>recognizes the dedicated service of the law enforcement emergency response officials and medical professionals who responded to the attack and cared for the victims; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HA863A5B4DB9B444DA75BDD715951D3AD"><enum>(6)</enum><text>reaffirms the commitment of the United States to condemn—</text> <subparagraph id="HF43582BCD83D4FAF918ACEAFDD7CAB94"><enum>(A)</enum><text>anti-Semitism;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H66DECAA7F7024EC798384D5DCA443788"><enum>(B)</enum><text>White supremacy;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HBC5C001212024EC8A8BB97929CDA4CD7"><enum>(C)</enum><text>White nationalism; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H56E5E92F67084D1588A65AFDEB8DA5D3"><enum>(D)</enum><text>all forms of hatred.</text> </subparagraph></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
