			 daughters of citizens of the United States, which citizens served on
			 active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States abroad, and for other
			 purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body id="H1C3131AA76954D0FA04A17D67BAA24E9" style="OLC">
 <section id="H6071A35A96EF4888AADFA34E6F9C3B96" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Uniting Families Act of 2019</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HEB6FD38263D54BF7994C3C1C3573F6EF"><enum>2.</enum><header>Admission of certain sons and daughters of citizens of the United States who served in the Armed Forces</header> <subsection id="H14D577310DB74A92A7B23EC7F140D239"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Classification as a nonimmigrant</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 101(a)(15) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(15)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="H665661A1C4CF4041B50161A6C8D19E73"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (U), by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H2FF273D439524F34835951909C323DA2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (V), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HFBEE2D85D3974553AACDEF6C5A8C5E51"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after subparagraph (V) the following:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H45E41A22D6524834A98AA811B0B8B763" style="OLC"> <subparagraph id="HD0852C25EA884F92AB2101398CD82A36"><enum>(W)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">subject to section 214(s), an alien who—</text>
 <clause id="HC792EB3C81B34E81AC7187E50BD1CC16"><enum>(i)</enum><text>is 18 years of age or older and is the genetic son or daughter of a citizen of the United States, which citizen served on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States abroad; or</text>
 </clause><clause id="H758FFEEC99AB4196A779E698293C8320"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>is the spouse or child of an alien described in clause (i) and is accompanying, or following to join, the alien.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HAA3F6EBBEA39418D95B9BF90960E5DF4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Requirements for admission</header><text>Section 214 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1184">8 U.S.C. 1184</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7CFC38989DCF42839250756211230369" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="H5DEAC91B06DA4731A36E18856C570405"><enum>(s)</enum>
 <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H0AD57A5464C048138AB061A2932A0CF4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>A visa shall not be issued under section 101(a)(15)(W) until a petition has been filed in the United States by the citizen parent of the visa applicant and approved by the Secretary of Homeland Security.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HD9B6EE91349A4A7D9DC5A0027BFF1125" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The petition shall be in such form and contain such information as the Secretary of Homeland Security shall prescribe, and shall include the following information:</text>
 <subparagraph id="H3E960C06CBC64D06A445DADC81639740"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">DNA evidence that establishes that the beneficiary is the genetic child of the petitioner.</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H8667CD9D816E49B389A281B9E7A65CC1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>An agreement in writing that the parent will provide financial support for the beneficiary until the beneficiary’s status is adjusted to the status of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence.</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HEB77FCF67DB4435BB0AE2E7FB12A2FF8"><enum>(C)</enum><text>Information that establishes that the petitioner—</text> <clause id="HE7824D3665454338AA95B03EEFF165C0"><enum>(i)</enum><text>is a citizen of the United States; and</text>
 </clause><clause id="HAB15F189235F43909FDA66149DEF0DDA"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>served on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States abroad.</text> </clause></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H7C62AD59F1AF4E518FD73103A08B7BDE" indent="up1"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The period of authorized admission for an alien admitted to the United States as a nonimmigrant under section 101(a)(15)(W) shall be 5 years, which may be extended for one additional 2-year period.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HA115EEC450564FD28B3F8434B046B744" indent="up1"><enum>(4)</enum><text>The total number of principal aliens who may be admitted under section 101(a)(15)(W) during any fiscal year may not exceed 5,000.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection id="H76617BFB27074695892F7B4526DF4ED7"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Adjustment of status</header><text>Section 245 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1255">8 U.S.C. 1255</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE2D93DA3EF8B4C71B4E1907CD03B53B1" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="HF71D725712284178AC537AB18D9AAFB3"><enum>(n)</enum>
 <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HABD0FBE9CA5D43F781558ED233DF5BD8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The Secretary of Homeland Security may adjust the status of an alien admitted to the United States as a nonimmigrant under section 101(a)(15)(W) to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence if the alien—</text>
 <subparagraph id="HA108CB3D3B5643A597A41631EB562FAF" indent="up1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>is admissible to the United States as an immigrant; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HA27EE1AC3E3240ACBE2D2CD635359FBE" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>satisfies the requirements under section 312, unless the alien is a child described in section 101(a)(15)(W)(ii) who is under the age of 18.</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H06A74E1E4CA240F39D67C08ABDDBC4C3" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The numerical limitations of sections 201 and 202 shall not apply to the adjustment of aliens to lawful permanent resident status under this subsection.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection id="HE4A9612E50624CCB9FFDE269C2CF78DB"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Naturalization</header><text>Section 312(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1423">8 U.S.C. 1423(b)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H29C1FEB1C3274078ADC72B3BD0768EBA" style="OLC">
 <paragraph id="H83E1F2311A4543BBAD875497FF925ECA"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The requirements of subsection (a) shall not apply to any person who has satisfied such requirements under section 245(n)(1)(B).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
