			 themselves of certain financial conflicts of interest, and for other

 <section id="H801BEEAE55444B569B40CBD49FF75EAF" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Presidential Accountability Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HF3510C3FCA7A41B19EE8A31FF9E4EE2F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Divestiture of personal financial interests of the President and Vice President that pose a potential conflict of interest</header> <subsection id="H46841D004B664875969189CC5D2CD0E6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) is amended by adding after title VI (as added by section 8003) the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0F7C6B074CA94EE698BCF4F79B29B2FC" style="USC">
					<title id="H2D57770434D64AFBA790DE3A705B26B1"><enum>VII</enum><header>Divestiture of Financial Conflicts of Interests of the President and Vice President</header>
						<section id="H9F9460A4AE2C43C8AAD2D0B01E7772D1"><enum>701.</enum><header>Divestiture of financial interests posing a conflict of interest</header>
 <subsection id="HC87A1B6286364CEA9C8F9FDBEAB0C3CE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Applicability to the president and vice president</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The President and Vice President shall, within 30 days of assuming office, divest of all financial interests that pose a conflict of interest because the President or Vice President, the spouse, dependent child, or general partner of the President or Vice President, or any person or organization with whom the President or Vice President is negotiating or has any arrangement concerning prospective employment, has a financial interest, by—</text>
 <paragraph id="HB05DEFE448234189B8B47B13AEF1250F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>converting each such interest to cash or other investment that meets the criteria established by the Director of the Office of Government Ethics through regulation as being an interest so remote or inconsequential as not to pose a conflict; or</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H6F308567BB1E4D9195CFFF63D54AB3D8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>placing each such interest in a qualified blind trust as defined in section 102(f)(3) or a diversified trust under section 102(f)(4)(B).</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H283092FD293247AF94D801DDEC0C0951"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Disclosure exemption</header><text>Subsection (a) shall not apply if the President or Vice President complies with section 102.</text></subsection></section></title><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </subsection><subsection id="HFC9DB952C97E419C9DB34E9A913D48E5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Additional disclosures</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 102(a) of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H96E4C1183C434CE9A22245E7BB04564C" style="OLC">
 <paragraph id="HBD3E9EF71C2B4FF0A640C28ACDA043AE"><enum>(9)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">With respect to any such report filed by the President or Vice President, for any corporation, company, firm, partnership, or other business enterprise in which the President, Vice President, or the spouse or dependent child of the President or Vice President, has a significant financial interest—</text>
 <subparagraph id="HE2B8A2EA2F8E4837A6AFE84C86B0757D"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the name of each other person who holds a significant financial interest in the firm, partnership, association, corporation, or other entity;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3B57EA1FB9944C75864FA0E72ADDE8BE"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the value, identity, and category of each liability in excess of $10,000; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H19222840909C4BEBA4B3DFFE85FEA00A"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a description of the nature and value of any assets with a value of $10,000 or more.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection id="H522C3DCC4FFB41B0BDB7ED42ECE17100"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Regulations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 120 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Director of the Office of Government Ethics shall promulgate regulations to define the criteria required by <external-xref legal-doc="usc-act" parsable-cite="usc-act/Ethics in Government Act of 1978 /701">section 701(a)(1)</external-xref> of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (as added subsection (a)) and the term <quote>significant financial interest</quote> for purposes of section 102(a)(9) of the Ethics in Government Act (as added by subsection (b)).</text>
