			 Government, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>

 <section id="id12B008F7AAAF4F63B3D1E092157978C4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Relocation Expense Parity Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="idCD57236F58F94A679235D67968E61710" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reimbursement of Federal employees for Federal, State and local income taxes incurred during travel, transportation, and relocation</header> <subsection id="id4376b8fd0ff54f37b40bc7c6fa752013"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 5724b of title 5, United States Code, is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="idd8d2939b2bda4788a3441a3c4b060e2e"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the section heading by striking <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="USC">of employees transferred</header-in-text></quote>;</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="id27bedf01f76d443f9d3a360013442a03"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (a)—</text>
 <subparagraph id="id6E6744EF90374A7A9D098A593473D28A"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the first sentence, by striking <quote>employee, or by an employee and such employee's spouse (if filing jointly), for any moving or storage</quote> and inserting <quote>individual, or by an individual and such individual’s spouse (if filing jointly), for any travel, transportation, or relocation</quote>; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="idf412a265a424404aaaa91767b3f3ad4a"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in the second sentence, by striking <quote>employee</quote> and inserting <quote>individual, or the individual</quote>; and</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="ida245e1b7fedb4516bfcabf1f88ebc2a1"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by striking subsection (b) and inserting the following:</text>

 <subsection id="id5E560A9082B2487885A3D9BD160A789F"><enum>(b)</enum><text>For purposes of this section, the term <term>travel, transportation, or relocation expenses</term> means all travel, transportation, or relocation expenses reimbursed or furnished in kind pursuant to subchapter II of this chapter or chapter 41.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id9D85D3827CD4490CBC128D222B670C31"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Technical and conforming amendment</header><text>The table of sections for <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/5/57">chapter 57</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 5724b and inserting the following:</text>
				<quoted-block id="id6e452400-65ca-472b-916a-523b7bcc0276" style="USC"><toc><toc-entry level="section">5724b. Taxes on reimbursements for travel, transportation, and relocation expenses.</toc-entry></toc><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idedaf50a791ff416dad7635c4863ec8aa"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Retroactive effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall take effect as though enacted on January 1, 2018.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
