			 death benefits to fire police officers.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H4B029AF7D2484D138C54DC15360D78F1" style="OLC">
 <section id="HF361BA9F8BB847369882AF93358563F2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Fire Police Fairness Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HA4735C550AE546DDB018DA47CD902D3E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extending public safety officer death benefits to fire police</header> <subsection id="id6B9946F622DB468DA748889DB9DC1DB9"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1204 of title I the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/10284">34 U.S.C. 10284</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="H5A6FBF33412846AB91F03E11B210568F"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating paragraphs (5) through (9) as paragraphs (6) through (10), respectively;</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H2C733312698F4586AF92B398837E9763"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (4) the following new paragraph:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H65E93E8DD418494FA4463EF1C315916A" style="OLC">
 <paragraph id="H3F414D7945AF4BE29201AC39B81CD128"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><term>fire police officer</term> includes an individual who—</text> <subparagraph id="H1576441D232548DA9EDA317C3C3B5887"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is serving in accordance with State or local law as an officially recognized or designated member of a legally organized public safety agency but is not a law enforcement officer, a firefighter, a chaplain, or a member of a rescue squad or ambulance crew described in paragraph (10)(D); and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC79C0965B02D4BEF98D00286DE51AB4C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>provides scene security or directs traffic—</text> <clause id="H4F413A04131142699A573EFC6ABD2A8E"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in response to any fire drill, fire call, or other fire, rescue, or police emergency; or</text>
 </clause><clause id="H2C89DE2987E54259933BA07615B27899"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>at a planned special event;</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph><paragraph id="HB7EB62690EF34EF2896A8024D1BA251D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in paragraph (10)(A), as so redesignated, by inserting <quote>as a fire police officer,</quote> after <quote>firefighter,</quote>.</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id2fbbfc8df7304e6682e29aa648f7ed58"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Technical and conforming amendment</header><text>Section 611(a) of the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/10286">34 U.S.C. 10286(a)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="idc5411ce8c73644d8b7288ab595752a7f"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>section 1204(7)(B)</quote> and inserting <quote>section 1204(8)(B) of title I</quote>; and</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="idb373330d4eb34d96a2c7f762ea7cd719"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>(<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3796b">42 U.S.C. 3796b(7)(B)</external-xref>)</quote> and inserting <quote>(<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/10284">34 U.S.C. 10284(8)(B)</external-xref>)</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
