			 replacement social security card for certain victims of domestic violence,

	<legis-body id="H6DC1A9E70E8D4DF0BFA017C2EFA0C062" style="OLC">
		<section id="H5762245F95244F6D931E212C3219B6F4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Responsibility of Social Security Administration to pay fees associated with obtaining a birth
			 certificate or State identification card for purposes of obtaining a
			 replacement social security card for certain victims of domestic violence</header>
 <subsection id="HE36F761DA8C7467FB017339B871837A2"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 205(c)(2)(G) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/405">42 U.S.C. 405(c)(2)(G)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="HAC3282C9DB694C58A147827DA5483B18"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>(i)</quote> before <quote>The Commissioner</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HB9408B8926AB4DE7A01D20E5BE2C7D9D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding after and below the end the following new clause:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6B09AAD475AE4B0697CD3073B1DA7D7D" style="OLC"> <clause id="HDE4020D3B9D6459980B4441DFF6F626D" indent="up3"><enum>(ii)</enum> <subclause commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H52C0EA40E1584D1B84C6AA5C7A3FEFFC"><enum>(I)</enum><text>In the case of a person described in subclause (II) who has submitted to the Commissioner an application to replace a social security card issued to the person, the Commissioner shall pay any fees charged by any governmental authority for furnishing the person with any of the following documents required to be submitted as part of the application:</text>
 <item id="H34495A310A31483F940207C4740D6746" indent="up1"><enum>(aa)</enum><text>A birth certificate of the person.</text> </item><item id="H0DEE6AAE4FCB4F68A598BF21D3497466" indent="up1"><enum>(bb)</enum><text>An identification card issued to the person by a State, that shows that the person is a resident of the State.</text>
 </item></subclause><subclause id="HF4385D7967A8434EA4AFDE95163E75AF" indent="up1"><enum>(II)</enum><text>A person described in this subclause is a person who—</text> <item id="H143825318B2E4DF5BAF8ACEABAD65E1C"><enum>(aa)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is verified by the staff of a shelter (as defined in section 302(9) of the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act) to be a resident of the shelter and is a victim of domestic violence (as defined in section 302(3) of such Act) or is a dependent of such a resident; or</text>
 </item><item id="H48953CFC5E694DDBB1C4F37416D09626"><enum>(bb)</enum><text>is verified by the staff of an organization providing supportive services (as defined in section 302(12) of such Act) to be a recipient of such services or is a dependent of such a person.</text>
 </item></subclause><subclause id="HD879F0345F724F5EA71C804ABBAFE23F" indent="up1"><enum>(III)</enum><text>A provision by a person described in subclause (I) of authorization to release information about the person, and the provision of information pursuant to the authorization, shall not be construed to be a waiver of any privilege of the person, under Federal or State law, relating to the confidentiality of communications between a domestic violence victim and an advocate of such a victim.</text></subclause></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HAE09C88180E245B3A967AD2FD1AA660E"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply to applications submitted after the 90-day period that begins with the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
