			 aliens acting in accordance with State and foreign marijuana laws, and for
			 other purposes.</official-title></form>

 <section id="H6AF62224ED9C48678830C75ED9B3CF1C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Maintaining Appropriate Protections for Legal Entry Act of 2018</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>MAPLE Act of 2018</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H1F9B2BE5438341A6813C19B6EF2817EF"><enum>2.</enum><header>Admissibility of aliens acting in accordance with State and foreign marijuana laws</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 212(a)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1182">8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(2)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="H88E1CFF124844CA09F161C657451AB25"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (A)(i)(II), by inserting after the comma at the end the following: <quote>except in the case of a law or regulation of the United States related to marijuana, which conduct was lawful in the State, Indian Tribe, or foreign country in which the conduct occurred, or a law or regulation of a State, Indian Tribe, or foreign country related to marijuana, which conduct was subsequently made lawful under the law or regulation of such jurisdiction,</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H37F3F2493DD54EE8ADB28FC779BE0478"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C)(i), by inserting after <quote>endeavored to do so</quote> the following: <quote>, except with respect to trafficking, sale, or distribution of marijuana if the conduct was lawful or subsequently made lawful in the State, Indian Tribe, or foreign country in which it occurred</quote>.</text>
 </paragraph></section><section id="H11696A9991F04F20A5A6822B40258F38"><enum>3.</enum><header>Deportability of aliens acting in accordance with State and foreign marijuana laws</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 237(a)(2)(B)(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1227">8 U.S.C. 1227(a)(2)(B)(i)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after <quote>marijuana</quote> the following: <quote>, an offense under a law or regulation of the United States related to marijuana, which conduct was lawful in the State, Indian Tribe, or foreign country in which the conduct occurred, or an offense under a law or regulation of a State, Indian Tribe, or foreign country related to marijuana, which conduct was subsequently made lawful under the law or regulation of such jurisdiction</quote>.</text>
 </section><section id="HD5F09A030F8948EDBA0F3F53BCC7C5BD"><enum>4.</enum><header>Aggravated felony</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 101(a)(43)(B) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(43)(B)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting before the semicolon at the end the following: <quote>, except with respect to trafficking, sale, or distribution of marijuana if the conduct was lawful or subsequently made lawful in the State, Indian Tribe, or foreign country in which it occurred</quote>.</text>
