 <section id="H50387C7253CD4A4D9EF941F43C312974" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Monetary Metals Tax Neutrality Act of 2018</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HD124E9A9574F4B878C38B2F9AE407267"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exemption from recognition of gain or loss from sale of certain coins or bullion</header> <subsection id="H153050254E9C4DFC90D8B0C2185B80B2"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Subchapter O of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/26/1">chapter 1</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting after part IV the following new part:</text>

							<toc-entry level="section">Sec. 1071. Sale of certain coins or bullion.</toc-entry></toc>
						<section id="H52AD7891B84C4E6AB5BEFA16E6532428"><enum>1071.</enum><header>Sale of certain coins or bullion</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">No gain or loss shall be recognized on the sale or exchange of—</text> <paragraph id="HCB6F660932D64165A3136C04F37286CB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>gold, silver, platinum, or palladium coins minted and issued by the Secretary at any time, or</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H75DFA22F5DF848E1ADECDDEBF72C57A0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>refined gold or silver bullion, coins, bars, rounds, or ingots which are valued primarily based on their metal content and not their form.</text></paragraph></section></part><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection id="HD5EF5DCC183943248EA276B4A9533C51"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text>The table of parts for subchapter O of chapter 1 of such Code is amended by inserting after the item relating to part IV the following new item:</text>
