			 the United States to any individual who is a member, or is eligible to be
			 a member, of a Federally recognized Indian tribe in the United States or
			 Canada, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body id="H853F269AC33B4453A9F803595F13574B" style="OLC">
 <section id="HE16CF30C25AA49F89B2CA3693A104E47" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>American Indians born in Canada or the United States</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 289 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1359">8 U.S.C. 1359</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H2634EEBA9D424574A256B4FFE9563FBA"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting after <quote>born in Canada</quote> the following: <quote>or the United States</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H7A57E96956A142A58EAABDEECB3FE47D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after <quote>but such right shall extend only to persons</quote> the following: <quote>who are members, or are eligible to be members, of a Federally recognized Indian tribe in the United States or Canada, or </quote>.</text>
