<section id="H6E11BF94759140818885C0A069164C42" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Student Loan Bankruptcy Act of 2018</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H355CB1604E40420DA81FD96351FAD1DC"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendment</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 523(a)(8) of title 11 of the United States Code is amended by inserting <quote>that first became due more than 5 years (exclusive of any applicable suspension of the repayment period) before the date of the filing of the petition, or</quote> after <quote>(8)</quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H51AC698767D745198D7CD1FDE0AA697B"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date; application of amendment</header> 
<subsection id="HD182084E7BA046078070143C42CD92B5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Except as provided in subsection (b), this Act and the amendment made by this Act shall take effect 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection> <subsection id="H6599728CF4924BC89D6DF9D128692404"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application of amendment</header><text>The amendment made by this Act shall not apply with respect to a debt for an educational benefit, overpayment, loan, scholarship, or stipend received by a debtor before the effective date of this Act.</text> </subsection></section>
