			 the expansion, awareness, and prestige of such programs, and for other

	<legis-body id="HC95BFC1E003A4037B5E7CC0B5ABB1B26" style="OLC">
 <section id="HD31D2001F6604432A7EEE3088D608609" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Accessing Professional Partnerships and Resources to Enable Necessary Training and Improve Career Education Act of 2018</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>APPRENTICE Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H30EB0E21C49948B7AC73401BB7903B03"><enum>2.</enum><header>Apprenticeship Grant Program</header>
 <subsection id="H723BBF145DA54A48AF50D754790B0B81"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Labor shall provide grants to State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship programs, on a competitive basis, to support the expansion, awareness, and prestige of such programs.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HC1DE5E41DDBA44CFA9982A95D5E9A5B9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Amounts</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amount of a grant made to a State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship program under this section may not exceed $100,000.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HCD705893AA7C4D75B2D8C7E14B9B7F2E"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Uses of amounts</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Amounts received under this section shall only be used to carry out the following:</text> <paragraph display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6680A8D233A346A4906759E855C1D127"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Train personnel who administer State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship programs or who supervise or train individuals participating in such apprenticeship programs.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HD612CC95449E46B2B649F5E36C80C1D0"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Publicize State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship programs on the internet, including on employment-related databases and search engines for job listings, and through public campaigns.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H89E7BB7DDF614C5F8EB6F5170C27BF6B"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Provide funds to educators from local educational institutions to visit State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship program sites to learn about such programs.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H4FE4AA5A555B4C10851C8AF839DA2DE3"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Review applications submitted to State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship programs by prospective apprentices.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H326BDF2D4B574A3C86A48673C8CDB700"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Coordinate State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship program curricula efforts with the curricula of local educational institutions and programs funded under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/2301">20 U.S.C. 2301</external-xref> et seq.).</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H9A2CDDE8A5E14A4B81CFE827B814181F"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Application requirements</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship program seeking a grant under this section shall submit an application to the Secretary at such time, in such manner, and containing such information as the Secretary determines.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HC14E26C5A7F8465BBF96ADDA025B1E31"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 2 years after the date of the enactment of this section, the Secretary shall submit to Congress a report on the results of the program, including the number of apprentices recruited and retained by State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship programs that receive amounts under this section.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HFF4F17901994493DAD4E68E0BE150A66"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $50,000,000 for fiscal year 2019, and each fiscal year thereafter.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="H1515DE8780DB4C9596FDE4B779B75807"><enum>3.</enum><header>Ease of navigation</header>
 <subsection id="HC5ED84F39FBE4D00A1E5AAFF2811E85A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall—</text> <paragraph id="H6868D1A3533F4F388985A464DEFD2A9E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>improve the navigability of the Department of Labor database containing registered apprenticeship programs;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H43A29F1F496A4C87B0CB1BF1C1E91BF3"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">publicize the ease by which an apprenticeship program seeking to register with the Department of Labor may become a registered apprenticeship program; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H6D4D182179624CC68255FE213160FC43"><enum>(3)</enum><text>coordinate with local and State Departments of Labor to publicize registered apprenticeship programs.</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H3C49EFFC8E974E74B5B52F7D6DE1AE4F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>External link</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Education shall include an external link to the Department of Labor database containing registered apprenticeship programs on the Department of Education website.</text>
 </subsection></section><section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H359EF3BAB00B4536B32A204187F6E18B" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>4.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text> <paragraph id="H88FE9BC5574D48699425D51C2EE8D5DD"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Director</header><text>The term <quote>Director</quote> means the Director of the Office of Personnel Management.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HBC01846F27F04FCB95EFFC13BEDC263E"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Prospective apprentice</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>prospective apprentice</quote> means current or prospective applicants to a State-recognized or federally recognized apprenticeship program.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HA3622F35838A4CF7B42E586DACEFC058"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>Except as otherwise provided, the term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the Secretary of Labor.</text> </paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
