			 assistance for community food projects, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>

 <section id="HB4D43BC38C2947AD901D59B0D40E3F59" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Campus Hunger Reduction Act of 2018</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H67BA20AA037C42939426F73096D0B09C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress finds the following:</text>
 <paragraph id="HE8010B79046F4C48B8BDCADC3F9EA5B4"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">According to the Wisconsin HOPE Lab, studies indicate that at least 36 percent of four-year college and university students and 42 percent of two-year community college students have experienced food insecurity in 2018.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H302511899AC2496BABFA312764E3B7F7"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Hunger threatens a student’s health, cognitive ability, and economic security.</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="HDA26C531D3244DC48613306E32026B64"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Institutions of higher education should strive to collect edible, surplus food from campus-operated dining facilities that would be thrown away and distribute such food to students experiencing hunger.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H562823A366454D34B796C1196AB76587"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Institutions of higher education should partner with local organizations such as regional food banks to reduce hunger and support operation of food pantries on campus.</text>
 </paragraph></section><section id="H5A2935B02CC346AE8216E15D1821700B"><enum>3.</enum><header>Assistance for community food projects</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 25 of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2034">7 U.S.C. 2034</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="HDBA2091DB86F4C48B4D9AA0FD06301FE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a), by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HABE24EC93B754110ABF615C47A20311D" style="OLC">
 <paragraph id="H01E23849F8F544D1ACC4017C97B80C20"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Institution of higher education</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>institution of higher education</quote> has the meaning given the term in section 101 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1001">20 U.S.C. 1001</external-xref>).</text>
					</paragraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HF58543981D02484EAF3EA8A70EEA1D35"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (c), in the matter before paragraph (1), by inserting <quote>an institution of higher education,</quote> before <quote>or a private</quote>.</text> </paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
