		<official-title display="yes">To require the Attorney General and the Secretary of Education to conduct a survey of all public
			 schools to determine the number of school resource officers at such
			 schools.</official-title>

 <section id="H6D5B323A1EE94A7CBF89D43528BC466B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>School Resource Officer Assessment Act of 2018</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H1D421D2037D842F98606EC7D3F708DB4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Survey of public schools</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Education shall jointly conduct and submit to Congress, a survey of the assignment of school resource officers at public elementary schools and secondary schools, which shall include, with respect to each such school that chose to respond to such survey, a determination of whether—</text>
 <paragraph id="H2233E2EAE67B404E868B593487AB9693"><enum>(1)</enum><text>on or after January 1, 2018, such a school has been assigned a school resource officer; and</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H57D24671934745FF8E33ECABA3FF1916"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in the case of a school that has been assigned such an officer—</text>
 <subparagraph id="HCE0FB1CBA4B1466E9165A9B4863AEEAE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the number of such assignments; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3095E21AAA2E48F6BF7C0E208F81B32A"><enum>(B)</enum><text>whether each such assignment is on a full-time or part-time basis.</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph></section><section id="H089B2179E7114DA5AC09550B08D27F76"><enum>3.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text> <paragraph id="HC5B10B114A5443BCB4C3AAD1B8587076"><enum>(1)</enum><header>ESEA terms</header><text>The terms <quote>elementary school</quote> and <quote>secondary school</quote> have the meanings given the terms in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7801">20 U.S.C. 7801</external-xref>).</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H9A018CC295D649A58983845FA03A2F32"><enum>(2)</enum><header>School resource officer</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>school resource officer</quote> has the meaning given the term in section 1709(4) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/10389">34 U.S.C. 10389(4)</external-xref>).</text>
