			 and of the reserve components of the Armed Forces in the event of a
			 shutdown of the Federal Government, to prohibit the furlough of such

	<legis-body id="HED8BA6853A694193A13AB54D72F0B721" style="OLC">
		<section id="HBA928B1EF6B34A1F9AC2B80FD980134F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Continuing appropriations for certain training for members of the National Guard and of the reserve
			 components of Armed Forces</header>
 <subsection id="HD550183DDA994ACFAB7D49897282C200"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to subsection (c), there are hereby appropriated for fiscal year 2018, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for any period during which a Government shutdown is in effect, such sums as are necessary to provide pay and allowances to—</text>
 <paragraph id="HECF8F623E4E44BDDA6119451038D4590"><enum>(1)</enum><text>covered members for training duty—</text> <subparagraph display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HDDE7EB134AA74BFAAB6565B9677E7399"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the course of performing—</text>
 <clause id="H908EFF799D2B4B6999DE970AC7E8306C"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">active service;</text> </clause><clause id="H0A42BAD76CDD422C98BEFFE5C4347FE8"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">inactive-duty training; or</text>
 </clause><clause id="HA1E0C5D725B74D9C8644EF4B12B16273"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>Active Guard and Reserve duty under section 328 of title 32, United States Code;</text> </clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H8AB6DE0ED76C4476B87BAC6B5C6C8EB0"><enum>(B)</enum><text>that occurs during such period; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HA6480893EAEC4572BCE01388D317332E"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">that the Secretary concerned determines was scheduled before the beginning of such period; and</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" id="H7E91F2F1BD4342B2AA98FE54C4B885CD"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">civilian personnel of the Department of Defense (and the Department of Homeland Security in the case of the Coast Guard) whom the Secretary concerned determines are providing support to covered members for purposes described in paragraph (1).</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HFCF938F335D74830B45526A824E94898"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Exemption from furlough</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to subsection (c), any covered member and all civilian personnel described in subsection (a)(2) shall be exempt from any furlough order for any period during which a Government shutdown is in effect.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HAA6415F7C56841FE9F75892AFFF4F479"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Termination</header><text>Appropriations and funds made available and exemptions from furlough granted pursuant to this section shall be available until whichever of the following occurs first:</text>
 <paragraph id="H075F7A7F85FB4CE5B9FF3B023E1DC52C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The enactment into law of an appropriation (including a continuing appropriation) for any purpose for which amounts are made available in subsection (a).</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HF3E1BC6E2E1F4915BCDA1FBFFFF70CF7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The enactment into law of the applicable regular or continuing appropriations resolution or other Act without any appropriation for such purpose.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H43B4D0103FA6409DAE2EBC80BA768346"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The end of the 30th consecutive day on which a Government shutdown is in effect.</text> </paragraph></subsection><subsection display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H969CC8B6349342DA97C8F557C0823069"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Determination of Government shutdown</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this section, a Government shutdown shall be considered to be in effect if there is a lapse in appropriations for any purpose for which amounts are made available in subsection (a) as a result of a failure to enact a regular appropriations bill or continuing resolution.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="H9A03826F363747D89CC0A6804161D2C1"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> <paragraph id="H595C01CE9853495388AC036C4B8D77A5"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The term <quote>covered members</quote> consists of—</text>
 <subparagraph id="H89FD2A17BCE54325BF08DFEF88A475DC"><enum>(A)</enum><text>members of the National Guard; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H1C549C510BE04233935DC4159B86D2E4"><enum>(B)</enum><text>members of the reserve components of the Armed Forces.</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA7605B3AEF03433E9B7FB7B809F71F2B"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section, the term <quote>Secretary concerned</quote> means—</text> <subparagraph id="H2F94B6422E6B4DE791F48A55A67F2878"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Secretary of Defense with respect to matters concerning the Department of Defense; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H0CFEEA963B574A918457C8263B5F6BC1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Secretary of Homeland Security with respect to matters concerning the Coast Guard.</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF55C60E8F239464F85C5D5F9B8F429A2"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The terms <quote>Armed Forces</quote>, <quote>active service</quote>, and <quote>inactive-duty training</quote> have the meanings given such terms in section 101 of title 10, United States Code.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H76DEDE5607D740C69C41798B25C495E5"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>reserve components of the Armed Forces</quote> means the components named in section 10101 of title 10, United States Code.</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="HD7A3F3AB56B54921AF7F5DBF0258268A"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>National Guard</quote> has the meaning given such term in section 101(3) of title 32, United States Code.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H7344A88A91CA4F8CA8F62A4FE07D28BD"><enum>(6)</enum><text>The term <quote>furlough</quote> has the meaning given such term in section 7511(a)(5) of title 5, United States Code.</text> </paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
