			 and to extend the trail into Vermont to connect with the Appalachian
			 National Scenic Trail, and for other purposes.</official-title>

	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H7004AA2AA6F344198D91C1F53C2EEC23" style="OLC">
 <section id="H0B61AD3971AF4CA58153EF96400A79A5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>North Country National Scenic Trail Route Adjustment Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H2B0BA28D220540719B82B8C48687A75F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Route adjustment</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(a)(8) of the National Trails System Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1244">16 U.S.C. 1244(a)(8)</external-xref>) is amended in the first sentence—</text>
 <paragraph id="H29DE889CCB464B8888E916244BFF2DDE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>thirty-two hundred miles, extending from eastern New York State</quote> and inserting <quote>4,600 miles, extending from the Appalachian Trail in Vermont</quote>; and</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="HD3D8EBBBFEFB4E558C52D633C334EBC3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>Proposed North Country Trail</quote> and all that follows through <quote>June 1975.</quote> and inserting <quote><quote>North Country National Scenic Trail, Authorized Route</quote>, dated February 2014, and numbered 649/116870.</quote>.</text>
 </paragraph></section><section id="H1AF5F3B8D8D1434783416B814D7A7CF8"><enum>3.</enum><header>Land acquisition</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Neither the Secretary of Agriculture nor the Secretary of the Interior may acquire for the North Country National Scenic Trail land in Minnesota or Vermont that was obtained through condemnation by a State or local government.</text>
 </section><section id="H0F4CF52C3A2148B7974E95109E091DB3"><enum>4.</enum><header>Energy</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Nothing in the amendments made by this Act that change the authorized route of the North Country National Scenic Trail in Minnesota or Vermont shall prohibit the development, production, conveyance, or transmission of energy in those States, with reasonable efforts made to preserve the nature and purpose of the North Country National Scenic Trail, and to mitigate any damage to that trail and its associated resources caused by such activities.</text>
