			 Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HF3324CB6741F4F8E822B607818A2CB2C" style="OLC">
 <section id="H09D6BCF1F548456DAA7F6D646D6F5FAB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2017</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HEF9411CB37054474A78B46609247A814"><enum>2.</enum><header>Sense of Congress</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">It is the sense of Congress that—</text>
 <paragraph id="HDD3A05AE7A73459ABF3D1570B4F4A45D"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Muslim Brotherhood meets the criteria for designation as a foreign terrorist organization under section 219(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1189">8 U.S.C. 1189(a)</external-xref>); and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H9E8BE0FA01934B71A336D40AC9117A80"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Attorney General and the Secretary of the Treasury, should exercise the Secretary of State’s statutory authority by designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization.</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="H97FED5C191194FD59023C2DCBC5822BF"><enum>3.</enum><header>Report on designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization</header>
 <subsection id="H8E0517F4B5E245CCA1BB401846859FDE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> <paragraph id="H701B8830B3914249AC06BE2AE81383C3"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Appropriate congressional committees</header><text>The term <term>appropriate congressional committees</term> means—</text>
 <subparagraph id="H424AA26452364A8787A0859D903E31AF"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="SSGA00">Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate</committee-name>;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC8CBD326FE454A05B07C659230B648C9"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="SSAS00">Committee on Armed Services of the Senate</committee-name>;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H1588EA5E721A4F91AFA6A04049251A5C"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="SSFR00">Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate</committee-name>;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H86A6DB368486440195B3162591CFBB82"><enum>(D)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="SLIN00">Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate</committee-name>;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HF4373F94DD2F46989675E79ED6AFA04F"><enum>(E)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate</committee-name>;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H59FA94DE49A147499F2280A5EE95FD01"><enum>(F)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="SSBK00">Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate</committee-name>;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HEB02987E0C8044B78EE92F912195AD9D"><enum>(G)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="">Committee on Homeland Security of the House of Representatives</committee-name>;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H7AAAFB7768914A028D2034BCB2AD37A7"><enum>(H)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="">Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives</committee-name>;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H31543C1830D04A89B957DB871C50BEC1"><enum>(I)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="">Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives</committee-name>;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6C48B7FEF14D4F22AAEA4AE7E83A73EA"><enum>(J)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="">Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives</committee-name>;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC10444285B254A69B56002701464BA88"><enum>(K)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="">Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives</committee-name>; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HF3BB96600AB84B9685C7C1DA4868B0F4"><enum>(L)</enum><text>the <committee-name committee-id="">Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives</committee-name>.</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HBC3C671C1EB946FEB2C4A382CC74A1E1"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Intelligence community</header><text>The term <term>intelligence community</term> has the meaning given that term in section 3(4) of the National Security Act of 1947 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/3003">50 U.S.C. 3003(4)</external-xref>).</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H5738B1D0AA0E403DBE4116E47C8A9E21"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State, in consultation with the intelligence community, shall submit a detailed report to the appropriate congressional committees that—</text>
 <paragraph id="H93A3FB815E9745C1B5113E1F5D41B459"><enum>(1)</enum><text>indicates whether the Muslim Brotherhood meets the criteria for designation as a foreign terrorist organization under section 219(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1189">8 U.S.C. 1189(a)</external-xref>); and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HD009D1F633484EB9AB85EC94802AAE32"><enum>(2)</enum><text>if the Secretary of State determines that the Muslim Brotherhood does not meet the criteria referred to in paragraph (1), includes a detailed justification as to which criteria have not been met.</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H6EA6104048A240C1ABA0C7BAF79C747B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Form</header><text>The report required under subsection (b) shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may include a classified annex, if appropriate.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
