			 medical care under the CHAMPVA program, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause">
 <section id="idD280307BB5384FAF8C3D808D7FD26196" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>CHAMPVA Children's Care Protection Act of 2017</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="id768735C3EF394707B9A282223C0D25B5" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increase of maximum age for children eligible for medical care under CHAMPVA program</header> <subsection id="ID120c3b86e7a849d28ae2d45381e0bfd9"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Increase</header><text>Subsection (c) of section 1781 of title 38, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id76AD6DA0DBD64CDB9F6427EDA0C582AF" style="OLC">
 <subsection id="ID40f8a4379b984a469fe1abe3aff3f485"><enum>(c)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="id477BB6F7E06041B7885AB86455D4ECFC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Notwithstanding clauses (i) and (iii) of section 101(4)(A) of this title and except as provided in paragraph (2), for purposes of this section, a child is eligible for benefits under subsection (a) until the child's 26th birthday, regardless of the child's marital status.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="IDd234dc00c0794ba8be01277a9ecbc40a" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Before January 1, 2018, paragraph (1) shall not apply to a child who is eligible to enroll in an eligible employer-sponsored plan (as defined in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/5000A">section 5000A(f)(2)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986).</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="ID90550c7c17474933b7f2c36fa65f7faa" indent="up1"><enum>(3)</enum><text>This subsection shall not be construed to limit eligibility for benefits under subsection (a) of a child described in section 101(4)(A)(ii) of this title.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="IDeaecd6b7f79b4bf7bf22963fc6a64646"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
 date</header><text>Such subsection, as so amended, shall apply with respect to medical care provided on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
