			 in the Armed Forces of the United States when any alien applies for an
			 immigration benefit or is placed in an immigration enforcement proceeding,
			 and for other purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H7EEAB9B4D0924E48AD120D7B7BF51958" style="OLC">
 <section id="H87CC35BD9FC54D098EEE3426AC4CF183" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Immigrant Veterans Eligibility Tracking System Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote> <short-title>I–VETS Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
 </section><section id="H2438F55B37FF4742AD653A9EEC557689"><enum>2.</enum><header>Identifying aliens connected to the Armed Forces</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Upon an alien’s application for an immigration benefit or the placement of such alien in an immigration enforcement proceeding, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall—</text>
 <paragraph id="H6BD7288E932947FC867F15391B5E8BEF"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">determine if the alien is serving, or has served, as a member of—</text> <subparagraph id="id45232A67F31748319681EA76E2F92F4D"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a regular or reserve component of the Armed Forces of the United States on active duty; or</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="idBAC5DE4C20BD402099C9C0C41D08FB2F"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a reserve component of the Armed Forces in an active status; and</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HF22760076BDF4885BDDC53C1D7EEBCDD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>annotate every immigration and naturalization record of the Department of Homeland Security relating to an alien described in paragraph (1) to—</text>
 <subparagraph id="id762A406B7DC24267A3F41423121138C1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>reflect that membership; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="id91179CEA0DC9412F8C5ACEC1F68F757C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>afford an opportunity to track the outcomes for each alien.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
