			 lymphedema compression treatment items as items of durable medical

	<legis-body id="H51C268EDF70A474CBB7201FD46EE3DFE" style="OLC">
 <section id="H5F36FCF20652475DAD745A8A4A27FCA9" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Lymphedema Treatment Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HCD2F276FD2B145F09440D72FCC5BBA4D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Medicare coverage of certain lymphedema compression treatment items as items of durable medical equipment</header> <subsection id="H7FC4A9EBB2164DDDB263F9D4E3012C47"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1861 of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395x">42 U.S.C. 1395x</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="HC518089EA58840BBA8216E279611C4CD"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (n), in the first sentence, by inserting before the semicolon the following: <quote>and includes lymphedema compression treatment items (as defined in subsection (jjj))</quote>; and</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="HBDFA9A4E1A744B50AE4620AFF404B2F1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HD328C4C28FC54BEABACC1B3D8FB473B4" style="OLC">
 <subsection display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H880518B8C8A24ADD94DA099F2B8B0130"><enum>(jjj)</enum><header>Lymphedema compression treatment items</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>lymphedema compression treatment items</term>—</text> <paragraph id="HB83363595532483AAD4E7E50192EC144"><enum>(1)</enum><text>means, with respect to an individual, compression garments, devices, bandaging systems, components, and supplies—</text>
 <subparagraph id="H77627EAE304746D490BAD2B4A3B6A66E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>that are primarily and customarily used in the medical treatment of lymphedema;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H16AE857DF0F2418696C481662155C4FF"><enum>(B)</enum><text>as prescribed by a physician (or a physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or a clinical nurse specialist (as those terms are defined in section 1861(aa)(5)) to the extent authorized under State law); and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H7E61F8F188B3486F89DD04C097BF87FE"><enum>(C)</enum><text>which would not, other than under subsection (s)(6), be included as medical and other health services under this title; and</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H58E485653D934E9CB8C4B751653B0C51"><enum>(2)</enum><text>includes—</text> <subparagraph id="H66E188FEF8F04816AF65C21ADA622FD3"><enum>(A)</enum><text>multilayer compression bandaging systems;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H7CBDA7484DF74224A1378559F2B47314"><enum>(B)</enum><text>custom or standard fit gradient compression garments;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD26F5572C0884DC7A68E8CA393ED786A"><enum>(C)</enum><text>non-elastic and low-elastic compression garments and compression wraps and directional flow pads; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HB155305571414510AC64D6868CF9B01E"><enum>(D)</enum><text>any other compression garments, bandaging systems, devices, and aids determined by the Secretary to be effective in the prevention or treatment of lymphedema.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H44982D3863B64DDBB02828D888634DBA"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply to lymphedema compression treatment items furnished on or after 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
