			 threats, including vehicular attacks, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>

 <section id="HBD909F8A856541BF80B933D31594577C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Shielding Public Spaces from Vehicular Terrorism Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HDFFEB2255C044254882CEE18166B4835"><enum>2.</enum><header>Research and development</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Homeland Security Act of 2002 is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="HDB0B182197F04F5EB5FFFDB32D3F3CC8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (11) of section 302 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/6/182">6 U.S.C. 182</external-xref>), by inserting <quote>research and development to combat emerging terrorist threats, such as vehicular attacks, and</quote> before <quote>the long-term</quote>; and</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H64E6E09E4052452584EF8228FC56FE90"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B) of section 308(b)(2) (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/6/188">6 U.S.C. 188(b)(2)</external-xref>)—</text>
 <subparagraph id="HEB800C267263456DA4EEC1C57B425B99"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the matter preceding clause (i), by striking <quote>expertise in—</quote> and inserting <quote>expertise in the following:</quote>;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H2C526E27B3B84A0AA2B2B8B3852980B9"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by redesignating clause (xiv) as clause (xv); and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6C994CF975C74022A7FF86662720EE9C"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by inserting after clause (xiii) the following new clause:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE9DE13B1B37A41E2B833EE7A9618E51E" style="OLC"> <clause id="H391880320AAE45428521D7DA537F9581"><enum>(xiv)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Combatting emerging terrorist threats, including vehicular attacks.</text></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subparagraph></paragraph></section><section id="H4A7DE1F381374F329EAB649085E2EDC5"><enum>3.</enum><header>Allowable uses</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2008 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/6/609">6 U.S.C. 609</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="HA29FA825271A45B1AB5EBF1D823794E1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a)—</text>
 <subparagraph id="HA77DA86E09934DB08E41AFF27AE7C896"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraphs (11) through (13) as (12) through (14), respectively; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H7A48EBF82AAE45A3B0DC31430C99C99E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (10) the following new paragraph:</text>

 <paragraph id="HC401997B44554A24B375A747BDDC0CD7"><enum>(11)</enum><text>addressing security vulnerabilities of public spaces, including through the installation of bollards and other target hardening activities;</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HA7B62DFFE6F84BAD891847AB4DC7F870"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B) of subsection (b)(3), by striking <quote>(a)(10)</quote> and inserting <quote>(a)(12)</quote>.</text> </paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
