<section id="H6000CB3ED89141B7812686A2D92A5CA2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as <quote>Finish the Fence Act of 2017</quote>.</text></section> <section id="H6F456347898C4196B97BBC4AB3419CED"><enum>2.</enum><header>Fencing along and operational control of the southwest border</header> <subsection id="HC86E93D2BD6F4DC18A96B44AAF770FE5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Fencing</header><text>Paragraph (1) of section 102(b) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1103">8 U.S.C. 1103</external-xref> note) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H62ECB2F8FA714C37BD05A00FF5F4BA17"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (A), by inserting <quote>, not later than December 31, 2017,</quote> before <quote>construct</quote>;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HFE9EDA86FBCA4B0A8D952C05F19AC007"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking subparagraph (B); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HCECD352636E04C138500840F2517DC80"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraphs (C) and (D) as subparagraphs (B) and (C), respectively.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection commented="no" id="H9D8038E7CA254165BC0B1EDDB9259E57"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Operational control</header><text>Subsection (a) of section 2 the Secure Fence Act of 2006 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1701">8 U.S.C. 1701</external-xref> note; <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/109/367">Public Law 109–367</external-xref>) is amended, in the matter preceding paragraph (1)—</text> 
<paragraph commented="no" id="H6AD7E3393CC94E1E8B15EA6B10B6A775"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act,</quote> and inserting <quote>December 31, 2017,</quote>; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph commented="no" id="H5C05098239174E3B8B7C2242E72C47AE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>, in consultation with State and local officials along the international border between the United States and Mexico, including border State governors, mayors of border towns and cities, and border sheriffs,</quote> before <quote>shall</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
