			 out job training programs for veterans.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body id="H52753D927A40498DA722523C208D1735" style="OLC">
 <section id="H97C51C4015264989AB1D538C8CB1C25F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans Employment Training Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>VET Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HEDEA2DD56F684B0EB503C75E4EA88D5C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Grant program for veterans</header> <subsection id="H30A15E0F15A4452DB1CDBC8A8FD0D179"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Program authorized</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Labor, in consultation with the Secretary of Education, shall award grants to employers to carry out the activities described in subsection (b).</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HF2AC24A317C34A1380B04F95EE67D480"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Uses of funds</header><text>An employer that receives a grant under this section shall use the grant to enter into a partnership with a community college to create a job training program for the purpose of training veterans for new jobs with the employer.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="H50E5BECC8610408EA2A17832BD3627DD"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Application</header><text>To be eligible for a grant under this section, an employer shall submit to the Secretary of Labor an application at such time, in such manner, and containing such information as the Secretary may require, which shall include—</text>
 <paragraph id="HD9383CA6BC824EFC99E3CB62EA15DC1C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a description of the job training program that the employer seeks to develop and carry out using the grant;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H1388D67147334BBE8098EE688D504BC1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the community college with which the employer plans to partner in developing and carrying out such job training program; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HFAFF0A90B9ED4D2FA830FC997E402294"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the number of new jobs the employer seeks to create as a result of such job training program.</text> </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H85021DC54F854D9982A67ED0506F48A5"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text>
 <paragraph id="HDFEF1D51D0DD4BDC9A585BE2B61394FD"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>community college</term> has the meaning given the term <term>junior or community college</term> in section 312 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1058">20 U.S.C. 1058</external-xref>).</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H0DDC7FE8EC7A42D7B91F5C002044C36D"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>new job</term>, when used with respect to an employer, means a job that—</text>
 <subparagraph id="H2F39F1624DD54487A46E49C5CDBBFFF9"><enum>(A)</enum><text>may include a new position within an existing job category, and is not a job of a recalled worker, a replacement job, or any other job that existed in the employer’s business within the one-year period preceding the date of hire;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H31A0224DEFBB462B92913E915ADD4B1C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>is not a job that existed in a business operation or substantially similar business operation of the employer formerly located in another location which was closed or substantially reduced by the employer; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HA8433BE90A7145049A792CDD2DE5641C"><enum>(C)</enum><text>results in a net increase in employment for the employer.</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HAF0B2FE9578D4ED09674B70717904E77"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The term <quote>veteran</quote> has the meaning given such term in section 101 of title 38, United States Code.</text>
