			 the programs of the Department of Justice in combating gangs, and for
			 other purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body id="HF087700985264FA79A678DAE1E73331C" style="OLC">
 <section id="H8CF66D07ED774AD596D9E5C66F64C88C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Reducing Gangs and Recidivism Act of 2017</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H27BF07FF029D4D0CB7CADBA847C6309F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Technical assistance</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Director shall provide technical assistance to States in implementing best practices for States receiving grants under a program of the Department of Justice, a purpose of which is to combat gangs.</text>
		</section><section id="HA757A969510A4F2CA473D045E3053574"><enum>3.</enum><header>Establishment of metrics to measure DOJ effectiveness in combating gangs</header>
 <subsection id="H23E12E4DF4DF4197804193E5B98364B7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Attorney General shall establish metrics and standards to measure the effectiveness of the programs of the Department of Justice in combating gangs.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HBBA8EE42B486489495102831A496269C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 5 years after the date of the enactment of this Act, and every 5 years thereafter, the Attorney General shall submit to Congress a report describing the effectiveness of the programs referred to in subsection (a) using the metrics developed pursuant to that subsection.</text>
 </subsection></section><section id="HE08365A5FAC840768F729FA9DD8C78E1"><enum>4.</enum><header>BJS report on recidivism</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Part C of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3731">42 U.S.C. 3731</external-xref> et seq.) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

 <section id="HEB06DF6BE6D54BFC92335FF0266F5773"><enum>305.</enum><header>Report on recidivism</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, and every 5 years thereafter, the Director shall submit to Congress a report on recidivism.</text></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
